Hello, everybody! I do not know how many of you know this but in my former life, I was a critical care nurse for 20 years. Sixteen of those years were devoted to ICU nursing and I loved it. It was my niche. So, with a very heavy heart, I am announcing that Gypsygirl Bread will not be at the Farmers Market until after the danger of this virus has passed ...which. btw, is officially designated as the SARS-CoV-2. It is devastating and it causes Covid-19 which leads to ARDS. ARDS stands for Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, a devastating, awful medical condition any (and I do mean any) ICU nurse is terrified of under normal conditions and it takes a lot to scare an ICU nurse. I urge every one of my customers to buy what you need for a bit (I mean, what you need over the next few weeks) and then hunker down over the the next month or so. This virus, this SARS-CoV-2, is brand new to the human population. No one is immune. It's never been here before. Many theories exist about its origins, but, it doesn't matter. It's here. It is in our country. Confirmed cases nationwide. Confirmed cases within 200 miles of of our beautiful, amazing lake. Italy went from manageable levels of the disease to complete chaos within 3 weeks. In fact, they have adopted new ICU standards which allows them decide who gets treatment and who doesn't. That decision is not one I never want to make for anyone, ever, or want you to make. My advice is to stay home. No travel. No gathering. Stay home. Wash your hands often. This virus does not seem to affect young people as much as it does older people and the target pop is, of course, is our older population of which this county has many. (49 million Americans are 65 and older. 11 million are 85 and older ) I want you all to be my customers! If you are 65 and older..especially if you have multiple issues that compromise your health (diabetes, heart problems, possible kidney disease, liver problems, previous leukemia, previous cancers, cancer now or are on any medication that compromises your immune system)....stay home. If you need anything, message me . I will be happy to run errands for you, pick up what you need, where ever it is. And, l truly mean that. Stay home.
