The dinner bell is ringing, let's head to the table, it's time to eat. 🙂

The Hawarden Community Dinner will be held Tuesday, June 16th from 5pm-7pm at the Associated Church. We will be serving beef brisket, potato salad, corn and homemade desserts. A big "Thank You!" to Sunshine for all their help with last month's dinner.

We have plenty to give away this month in our Pantry. We had to leave ½ a pallet of produce in Sioux City, even with 3 vehicles, we did not have enough room to bring everything back.🙂

We look forward to seeing all of you again for dinner, so stop in for dinner tonight ... there is always room for another chair at our table. 🙂

The Hawarden Community Dinner

The Hawarden Community Dinner is looking for volunteers to help each month driving down to Sioux City to pick up our order at the Siouxland Foodbank.

So, what is "our order"? It's everything we give away each month in our Pantry ... the baked goods, the produce, grab bags, and canned goods, as well as 85% of what we need to make dinner and desserts each month :)

The Foodbank could deliver, but that would double our monthly bill ... and that is something that does not fit in well with our budget of donations.

This means we drive down each month the day before the dinner, meeting at Quick Corner at 8am, and caravan down to Sioux City so we arrive at the Foodbank before 9am. We are all back on the road by 9:30, heading back to the Associated Church. Once backed up to the North doors, you help unload your vehicle, and you are done. This usually is done in under 3 hours :)

A few hours of your time, a few gallons of gas and a trip down to Sioux City and back is what we are in need of. We currently are using 4 drivers each month, using pick-ups and SUVs. We would like to get a pool of 8 or 9 drivers to pull from ... many hands always make light work :)

If this sounds like something you'd like to do, please call John at 712 -551-3754 between 7am & 7pm, and we'll make this happen.

This dinner is open to the entire community: No age discrimination, no income discrimination, no gender discrimination, no denominational or church discrimination, NO DICRIMINATION at all! Just a time of fellowship to sit at a family table and enjoy breaking bread with other members of the community. Everyone welcome....volunteers appreciated
