He was a simple, kind, and funny man. He didn't care for me taking photos of him. He preferred to talk and share his wisdom and humor.

But some things are worth revisiting on the holidays. So I hope the family doesn't mind I came back to share this for all the Gracians who will always miss this bakery downtown and the ENTIRE GOLL FAMILY for this gift.

I took the liberty of thinking you all might like a peek back into the best part of our ghosts of Havre de Christmas Past! And where ever any of you Goll folks are...just know....you are missed and still loved for almost 100 years of keeping us sweet.

Bobby Sr. loved colored lights. He is making cream puffs here. In the 1950s/60s Mr. Goll would make big vats of eggnog in the bakery and all their friends and firemen families would gather in the alley between the bakery and our house for a big holiday party!

Those Golls...it was perfect choreography when Bobby Sr., Jr., Susie, and the rest of the family were baking during the holidays.

Hello everybody! Sorry about the delayed post. I wasn’t sure of what to say or how to say it after everyone’s help. After using the money from the go fund me to make the first upgrades that health department wanted, they came back wanting more things fixed. Then they had a building inspector come in and there was a very long list of things that needed to be upgraded. There was no health department issues with the food part of the business. It was the old equipment they wanted replaced and the floors and electrical. Everything that has been grandfathered in for the past 92 years basically is what they wanted replaced. After talking with my family, we all came to the conclusion it would be best to close. With the cost of everything that would be needed to be done to meet the requirements to open, it became obvious it would be years before we turned a profit.

We want to say thank you to everyone who donated and everyone who had kind words during this difficult time of our family. It has not been easy to come to this decision. When the building is sold we will return your donations.

Thank you all so very much, from the bottom of the Goll family’s heart, for a great 92 years in business. We will truly miss everyone.

Susie will be providing an update by the end of the week.

This is Annie. I handle their FB page. Folks have said they have messaged Susie with no reply. I just saw that we have messages turned off. I forgot we did this when we put the order page on the website. I apologize to anyone who sent Susie a message. She never got your message.

Oh, and by the way. Golls would never rip off our faithful customers! This is to those other, carelessly monitored, social media pages that are posting mean AND uninformed posts.

Have a beautiful day.

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Just giving an update on where we are with reopening the bakery. Due to the extensive nature of the updates we must make on our building, our re-opening will be delayed.

The summer is a busy season for contractors and being the last one in on their lists is delaying the work that must be completed. Funding for all the repairs and health department updates, recommendations, and equipment replacement should be finalized shortly. We are looking at over $30,000 in budgeting the work to be done. That's quite a few donuts!

Some of the most beautiful, antique, baking equipment, used by my family for 92 years is no longer code. Now that I am the owner, I must update quite a few large equipment items. The list is quite extensive and I must admit, a bit overwhelming. However, I am up to the challenge and working on all the details daily.

Our scheduled reopen date will now be sometime in August. This is if all construction scheduling goes as planned. We thank the community for all your support and encouragement that is helping us maintain during these unusual times for our family business.

Tomorrow we will begin showing you some of our progress and thanking those businesses who have offered up free services, discounted labor and supplies, and help from every angle.

I received a gift today from a few family friends who decided instead of flowers, we might enjoy this painting.

It is going in the bakery window for inspiration. Chief Sticky Bun is overlooking the operation. I feel much better.

Thank you Ezra. I love it! You captured him perfectly.

Now on to year 92 - 100!
