MEET THE BAKER | The Heart Behind Wildflour Acres
Hi, I’m Amy! The face behind Wildflour Acres, a proud mom of four, and the woman you’ll usually find somewhere in the kitchen. 🩷
A little bit about me. . .
I’m a single mom to four amazing kids, ages 20, 18, 12, and 8. They’re my whole world, my biggest motivation, and the reason I work so hard to build something of my own.
My childhood wasn’t exactly traditional. I spent my early years in foster care due to abuse and neglect, before being adopted, and those experiences shaped a lot of who I am today. I think they’re also part of why creating a warm, loving, and welcoming home has always meant so much to me.
Family has always held a special place in my heart, and that love extends beyond my own four kids. One of the most meaningful experiences of my life was having the honor and privilege of being a surrogate for a family I hold incredibly close to my heart. It was something I had dreamed of doing for as far back as I can remember, and in December 2023 I got to bring a sweet, sweet baby boy into this world to help complete a family. 💙
I’ve always loved cooking from scratch, but even more than the cooking itself, I love what happens around food. Bringing people together, hosting a kitchen full of friends and family, conversations around the dinner table, and making sure that everyone leaves with a full belly. Those are the moments that fill my heart and soul.
Now, here’s something you might not expect. . .I never was a baker! 😬
Wildflour Acres actually started out of necessity. As a single mom navigating some unexpected financial hardships, I needed to find a way to help support my family while still being present for my kids. I’ve always dreamed of making a living doing something involving food, and starting a cottage bakery was something I could do right from home in my very own kitchen.
What I didn’t expect, was just how much I’d fall in love with baking!
What began as a way to provide for my family has turned into something I’m genuinely proud of. And watching my kids take pride in this little business, help where they can, and celebrate every milestone alongside me makes it even more special.
My hope is that Wildflour Acres will someday grow into a commercial kitchen right here on our little acreage, where I can continue baking and eventually share my love for homemade meals with even more families and friends.
For now, I’m learning, growing, making mistakes, celebrating little victories, and putting a whole lot of love and intention into everything that leaves my kitchen.
If you’ve ordered, shared a post, recommended my bakery, or simply cheered me on, please know how much it means to me. You’re helping me build something from the ground up. . .something that is already making a difference for my family each and every week.
I’m so glad that you’re here.
