Staff of Life Bread Company is an artisanal baking company specializing in European style breads.
We use traditional techniques to maximize the flavor and quality of the bread. We are a production-only bakery, and we sell our breads at farmers markets in Harrisonburg and Leesburg, Virginia. We also offer them at the Friendly City Food Co-op, 150 Wolfe St. and JMU's Grace Street Market at the Student Success Center in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Dear Bread Fans:
I got some feedback that there was some sticker shock about CHOCOLATE BABKA today. Well, the funny thing is...I did not increase the price. It is the same price as the last time we made it at Valentine's Day & Mother's Day.
The price of the Stollen did increase and all our brioche and cheese items will increase next week to $3.50. My raw material costs have increased just as your grocery bills have increased.
I am also having to adjust wages again for the new minimum wage increase.
I cannot continue to absorb all the pricing changes as I, too, need to pay my bills. This is not a hobby for me.
I am saying these things without rancor, increases need to happen and this is a fact of our modern life. Yes, I wish things were better or different but we have each other and Staff of Life Bread continues to make high-quality products with exacting standards.
The tiny team at Staff of Life Bread thanks you for understanding and we wish you a very Happy Christmas and New Year!

Working the most pivotal position in any food related business requires the right person. Could that be you?
Staff of Life Bread needs a person with the ability to clean dishes, sinks and special cleaning tasks on Saturday afternoons, about two Saturdays a month, plus Monday afternoons during our busier times.
Detail oriented, repetitive and methodical work and a good understanding of safety and sanitation is preferred. Training is provided. We try to avoid any contact with hazardous chemicals. Lifting up to 30 lbs. to waist height and bending over a 3-compartment sink are the major physical requirements.
Anyone 16 and up can apply AND 14-15 year olds with a desire to complete a work permit with the commonwealth of Virginia and parental consent.
Training wage listed, raise after training based upon performance and experience.

Sun & Thurs shifts 2-8pm; Mon & Wed shifts -3pm as needed. The right person(s) may want to move into baking and full-time hours. Currently no benefits but may be possible in the future since we want the RIGHT person. Physical work lifting 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the day/evening. Operating commercial production equipment with training, moving to working independently. Simple math and ability to follow instructions in English required. Little to no customer interaction. Can you go to store and buy without placing order. With inclement in forecast wasnโt sure about ordering and be unable to get there.
We tried to order a stollen for pickup at the Harrisonburg farmers market this Saturday, 18. We were directed to your square space site, and each time we went almost everything, including the stollen, said sold out. We found at least four sites for you. We tried off and on all week. We could never order one, so we will be at the market tomorrow morning at 8:00 and hope to pick one up for this year. Maybe you can post the best way to order.
