On Tuesday, May 26th, Jai and I were involved in a horrible hit and run accident. My car was totaled, and while we were still processing what happened and being assessed, the man who ran the stop sign left the scene. We don't know if he has insurance or not, which makes things even more uncertain for us. Thankfully I had car insurance, but as many know, the payout for a totaled vehicle never amounts to enough to replace what was lost.
In addition to this, I’ll have my 3rd brain surgery (2nd encephalocele repair) in July and will need a car for preoperative and postoperative appointments in Baton Rouge. Between ten days of not working and enormous hospital copays, money is incredibly scarce. While I have PTO and medical insurance, the added stress of another financial burden is overwhelming. Both Jai and I have already had to miss work and her internship, which has made things even harder.
We need to buy a new car, cover medical bills, pay attorney fees, and manage hospital copays. The funds will also help with transportation for surgery appointments and support us while we’re unable to work. We know life is hard for everyone right now and extra money is hard to come by. Anything you have to give would be greatly appreciated. Your kindness means the world to us, and we’re grateful for any help you can offer.
