This is something we’ve been fighting for, and now we have a real opportunity to make it happen.

Hampton currently does not allow small cottage food businesses like mine to operate a self-serve bake stand from our homes. We can sell online, do porch pickups, attend markets and events but a simple, unattended bake stand at our own home isn’t allowed.

And honestly, it doesn’t make sense.

Small cottage bakeries are already following Virginia’s cottage food laws. We’re creating businesses, supporting our families, keeping money in our community, and giving our neighbors access to locally made food.

So we started a petition asking Hampton to change the zoning rules and allow cottage food stands in residential areas.

If you’ve ever stopped by my bake stand, supported Kern & Crumb, bought from a local home baker, or you simply believe small businesses should have a fair shot; please take 30 seconds to sign and share this petition.

Fall is officially making its way into the Kern & Crumb Bakehouse menu!!

I’m adding THREE new seasonal treats this week:

🍎 Apple Butter Cinnamon Rolls: soft, fluffy cinnamon rolls swirled with apple butter, brown sugar & cinnamon and finished with a sweet vanilla glaze.

🍁 Maple Pecan Scones: buttery, tender scones packed with toasted pecans and maple flavor, finished with a sweet maple glaze.

🎃 Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal Cream Pies: soft, chewy pumpkin-spiced oatmeal cookies with a sweet, creamy filling.

And yes… you can still get all your favorites too!!

We shop at Game’s Farmers Market pretty often, so I had to bring you guys along with us! It’s been a family-owned neighborhood staple for 35+ years and has that cozy, down home feel that makes you actually enjoy grocery shopping.
