🍯🥃 Honey Bourbon Pecan Sourdough 🤎

We took that incredible poplar honey from our friends at ThermaHive and turned it into something dangerously delicious.

Bourbon + honey + Turbinado sugar candied pecans, folded into our sourdough for a loaf that is caramelly, nutty, subtly smoky, and just the right amount of sweet.

And WOW. This one absolutely exceeded our expectations. 🤤

A huge shoutout to ThermaHive for the honey that inspired this loaf, and for the work they're doing to help protect honey bee colonies through precision-controlled thermotherapy.

This might be one of our new favorites. And yes… we're already thinking about when we can make it again. 👀

We are starting to make some suggestions reality! Starting with pumpkin cheesecake muffins.

These soft, pumpkin-spiced muffin + creamy cheesecake center + a ridiculous amount of cinnamon streusel are making a strong case to stick around!

WE’VE BEEN THROUGH IT. BUT WE’RE BACK.

If you've been wondering where we've been lately… let’s just say the universe REALLY wanted to test us.

First, our oven decided to enter Sabbath Mode and eventually went into full-on failure mode. So we replaced it.

Then, right as we were getting back on track, we were both very sick for several days.

And because apparently that wasn't enough… our well pump decided it had had enough, too.

After several days of troubleshooting, replacing parts, and fighting with the equipment we finally got the pump replaced with some help.

But guess what?

WE’RE BACK UP AND RUNNING. 🙌🏼

Just in time for school to start.
Just in time for the market.

So this Sunday, we're bringing the full lineup to the Reisterstown Farmers Market!

HEY, NEW FRIENDS! 👋🏻

A bunch of you found us recently, so we figured it was probably time to introduce ourselves before we just keep showing you bread and pretending you already know who we are. 😂

We’re Kirsten (the baker), Tory (the muscle and quality control), and children (there are 4 of them) , and we are Black Rock Bakery , a little family-run cottage bakery where there is almost always dough somewhere in the kitchen.

We bake sourdough, focaccia, cinnamon rolls, muffins, cookies, seasonal goodies… basically whatever sounds delicious enough to make us turn the oven on again.

Behind the bakery are a whole lot of chaos, coffee, and questionable amounts of sourdough starter.

We started this little business because we genuinely love baking and wanted to share the things we make with our community. Watching this crazy little dream grow has been SO much fun, and every order, follow, share, comment means more to us than you probably realize.

So, if you’re new around here, WELCOME to our journey and thank you everyonefor the support!
