For many years, I've been quietly working on something that's unlike anything I've ever created.
Many of you know One Of A Kind because of my crochet, plants, baked goods, and handmade gifts. All created with all my heart. In that heart, I carry the love and stories of so many animals and I want to share them with the world.
For nearly 20 years, I worked in animal rescue and behavior. Along the way, I met so many incredible animals who forever changed the way I see life. Each one left a mark on my heart, and I still carry their stories with me every single day. I knew those stories deserved to be remembered—not just for me, but for anyone who has ever loved an animal or believed in second chances.
So... I wrote them down. Stacks of notebooks, scratch paper, binders, phone notes. I always wanted to be an author for as long as I could remember. I jotted these things down in hopes to make my dream a reality some day.
I'm incredibly excited (and honestly a little terrified) to finally share that I've been creating my very first illustrated children's book based on true stories, and it's almost finished.
*Because Someone Said Yes* is a heartfelt collection of true stories about second chances, hope, kindness, and the extraordinary animals who changed our family's lives forever. While it's filled with animals, it isn't really a book just about animals. It's about what can happen when someone chooses compassion. When pieces of a puzzle belong right where they land and it warms hearts. Sometimes, one small "yes" can change everything.
This project has been years in the making. Years of remembering. Years of writing. Months of illustrating. More happy tears than I can count. Now I'm finally close enough that I can start sharing it with all of you.
I can't wait for you to meet the animals, hear their stories, and see why each one will always hold such a special place in my heart.
