My heart is so heavy tonight. 💔

First of all, I am so thankful for the quick response of law enforcement and the school system today. I'm also so thankful no children were injured and that the victim was sent home with her family to fully recover!

But today was just too close to home. Last year, I was eating lunch at school with one of my sons during a "secure" event. He was carefree, but I could see the concern on the staff's faces.

Today, while eating lunch with my kids, I couldn't help but look at all those little elementary faces and think about the children who experienced this for real. And I could see the heaviness of each staff member today. They were brave for the students, but you could see their quiet concern: concern for another school, concern for neighboring staff (former colleagues even), concern for students just like their own.

As a mom, this is one of my greatest fears. My heart aches for every child, parent, teacher, and staff member affected today. I don't have the words—but I know where to turn.

Praying for our children. Praying for our schools. Praying for our community. 🙏❤️

**Let’s answer the million-dollar question… 😂**

“Are you going to quit your day job and bake full-time?”

Nope. ❤️

And honestly? I love my day job. I’ve known Mary for over 20 years, even longer than I’ve known my husband 😂, Kim is one of my best friends, and I truly can’t imagine life without either of them. I have a flexible job I enjoy — and it’s a whole lot easier on my body than hauling canopies and tables around! 😂

But then there’s this.

**This is the stuff I LOVE.**

Creating recipes. Experimenting. Figuring out why something works (or why it absolutely does NOT 😂). Turning something as simple as browned butter into something delicious.

I love baking. I just don't need it to become a full-time business.

So I'm shifting Cluck & Clutch away from markets and events and bringing more of it **home.**

More time with my family. Less hauling tables and tents. More baking. And, as you guys have already shown me, a lot of you would rather just come find me at home anyway. ❤️

I’ll absolutely be keeping my commitment to Spottswood and will be there on **September 12th** — so that one is still on the calendar!

After that, you’ll be finding a lot more Cluck & Clutch right here at home. 🐔❤️

I’m not stepping away from baking.

**I’m making room to enjoy it.**

***I just need to say THANK YOU.***

Middlebrook Horse Drawn Heritage Days - Middlebrook, Va. was such a fun day, and I am so thankful I got to be there!

I had people come specifically because they knew Cluck & Clutch would be there, and I got to see so many of my Middlebrook regulars. I really do miss seeing you all at the market, so getting to catch up with familiar faces made my day. ❤️

And then there were the people who took a little bit of Cluck & Clutch home with them and came back for more. 🥰

I did come home with a fair bit of baked goods, so I brought everything back to the stand…

**And y'all sold me out in about four hours.** 🤯

That has become one of my favorite things about this little business. No matter where I go, no matter what I have left at the end of the day, I can come home and my regulars take care of me.

I cannot tell you how much that means to me.

And I want to give a HUGE thank you to everyone who came out to Middlebrook Horse Drawn Heritage Days - Middlebrook, Va., supported the vendors, and especially to the organizers who put so much time and effort into making the event happen. Events like this take an incredible amount of work behind the scenes, and I'm grateful Cluck & Clutch got to be a part of it. ❤️

I'm already looking forward to seeing what next year brings!

And apparently I also need to address one very important issue…

**WHERE WAS THE BLUEBERRY LEMON?!** 😂💙🍋

I heard you loud and clear!

I guess I just wanted to be different for once. 🤦‍♀️But blueberry lemon consistently sells really well, so I promise I'll have it as often as I possibly can.

Lesson learned. 😆

You already know I'm bringing that yummy pull-apart cinnamon bread, but I couldn't help but think: "What Would Dolly Do?"

So in honor of Dolly Parton and her incredible commitment to giving back, I wanted to make a Dolly-inspired cookie collection to do a little good of its own. So, 25¢ from every Dolly-inspired cookie sold will be donated to the Riverheads High School Latin Club. ❤️

Because if there’s one thing Dolly has shown us over and over, it’s that you can be successful, have a little fun, and still use what you have to help the people around you.
