The Douglass Theatre celebrated its 100th Anniversary last year, recognizing the history of the staple performance venue that opened in the early 1900s to host African-American audiences and performers. Fodor's Travel's latest article calls it a must-see Black history site: "As one of the first Black-owned theaters in the country, it was a must-do for legends such as Little Richard, Bessie Smith, James Brown, and Ma Rainey."

Today, the iconic venue has been fully renovated and has an array of events such as film presentations and theatrical concerts.
