I wanted to take a few minutes to introduce myself. My name is Christal and I am the owner, and baker, of From Scratch.
I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner by day and a passionate baker and gardener by night. I am dedicated to bringing wholesome, handmade products to our community. My journey into baking deepens my lifelong dedication to nurturing others. I cultured my own wild sourdough starter with the same patience and care I bring to my healthcare practice. By 2026, that thriving starter inspired me to launch this cottage bakery. For me, creating from scratch is the ultimate therapy. The rhythmic kneading and long fermentation process offer a peaceful, grounding balance to my fulfilling career in mental health.
At From Scratch, the name is my promise. Everything I offer is made completely by hand using honest, high-quality ingredients. I also tend a vibrant home vegetable and herb garden, incorporating as many of my own homegrown ingredients into my products as possible—especially rosemary, my absolute favorite kitchen herb.
My menu features artisan sourdough breads, custom seasonings, and rich, homemade extracts. When I am not practicing, baking, or gardening, I cherish life at home with my husband. I am also a proud mother and a doting grandmother. Every single item I make is crafted in small batches, infusing science, patience, and a lot of heart into delicious goods for your family table.
We currently operate via online preorders with convenient home pickup, and I am thrilled to announce that we are launching a self-serve porch stand this summer!
