JBB had a good day today after all of the commotion related to equipment breakdowns over last weekend. We were unlucky enough to have a gas line to the oven fail on Friday and then. An igniter failed on the Kettle on Sunday. Equipment problems usually don’t give you any notice and the nature of the business (making fresh dough, bagels and boiling and baking within hours of sale) make flash disruptions unavoidable.

We also just installed a new POS (point of service) system that will make the front end more efficient and easier for both staff and customers to work with. This new system will also allow us to attach a new website, which is under development, that will make it possible for customers to order half and full dozens and cream cheese ONLINE and pay for them ONLINE, so that all they need to do is walk in, find the bag on the shelf with their name on it, and walk out…SKIP THE LINE. More on this later.

Thanks everyone for riding out the storms with us.

Problems AGAIN. Friday it was the oven. Fixed that and Saturday everything was fine. This morning the kettle won’t boil…we are working on it but no dice yet. Baked bagels that aren’t boiled are not bagels, so we are sunk if we can’t get the kettle to boil.

Sorry again. This is hard to believe.

We will NOT BE OPENING today, Sunday 4/12.

Hey Folks, once again our oven has decided to take a vacation at the worst possible time. We’ve been working on it since 4AM and it won’t come up to the heat we need to make a proper bagels. Stay tuned for when we reopen. I’ll post it and the shop message will advise as well.

Sometimes it seems like things conspire to make things as difficult as possible.

Thanks for your support.
