I want to introduce you to someone very special behind every loaf of sourdough I bake: Wolfgang, my sourdough starter. 🤍

I named him after my dad. My dad was one of the strongest, hardest-working, most humble people I’ve ever known—and I don’t say that just because he was my dad. He was always doing for others and always there when someone needed him.
My kids are all grown now, and my dad has passed away, but we still talk about him almost every day. Usually, it’s a story about how hard he worked, something he did for someone else, or a time he showed up for our family.
When I started my sourdough journey and my starter grew strong, there was only one name that felt right: Wolfgang.
So every time I bake, I get to carry a little piece of my dad with me. ❤️

Did you know.............
🍞 What makes TRUE SOURDOUGH so special?

At Sourdough & Sweets, our classic sourdough bread is made with only four simple ingredients:
🌾 Flour
💧 Water
🫙 Sourdough starter made from flour and water
🧂 Salt
That’s it! No commercial yeast, additives, or preservatives.

True sourdough is naturally fermented using wild yeast and beneficial bacteria. The slow fermentation process creates its delicious tangy flavor, beautiful artisan texture, and several potential benefits:
✨ Fermentation can reduce phytates, helping make certain minerals more available.
✨ Long fermentation may make sourdough easier for some people to digest.
✨ Natural acidity helps the bread stay fresh longer.
✨ Every loaf develops a rich flavor and texture that simply can’t be rushed.
Simple ingredients, plenty of time, and lots of love—that’s what makes true sourdough! 🤎
Please note: Traditional sourdough still contains gluten and is not safe for people with celiac disease.
