Friday Cookie Chats - Summer break is in full swing and that means a break from our little weekly tradition, but I had some cookies to work on and this idea for the cutest little snowcones so I figured we’d throw in one last “welcome to summer” chat. This week I asked the boys for one of their favorite moments from the school year AND what they’’re looking forward to this summer.

I - Loved Battle of the Books and having a student teacher and is looking forward to pool days & Robotics Camp!
O - Loved Super Games, watching movies at school and his amazing teacher and “helper teacher.” He is most looking forward to the Granville 4th of July festivities!
F - Loved learning the Zoophonics and playing with his friends every day. He also said he is most looking forward to 4th of July, specifically the parade!

I didn’t have a cookie but I’ll still play. I absolutely loved every moment that I got to spend in school with my boys, their classmates and their wonderful teachers, it sounds generic but truly means more than anything to me. This summer I am looking forward to adventuring together!! I hope to travel to at least one place we haven’t been before. And 4th of July Bingo of course!!

It’s such a busy season but how lucky was I to be able to help two of Ivan’s teachers celebrate special moments with their kids.

From graduations to sporting events, birthdays or even just that special little Friday treat - making those moments just a tiniest bit sweeter is why I do what I do.

Thank you to everyone who has let me make some of those moments (or warm scone Wednesdays) just a little bit sweeter.

We just couldn’t let the last Warm Scone Wednesday of the year pass by 😊

Friday Cookie (and ice cream) Chats (part 2): I can’t take credit for any of this but I can thank the amazing Granville 3rd graders! Friday morning we popped over to the apparently hottest event in town - it was a MADHOUSE - to support our 3rd grader & his pals at their annual bake sale.

We turned their class made brownies into movie night sundaes and shared some of the extra treats we scored with some neighbors.

Lots of planning and taste testing and a whopping 20 minutes (or less) to sellout led to raising nearly $2000 for Camp Kesem. Awesome work 3rd Graders!!

Friday Cookie Chats (part 1): Today we closed a big chapter while our littlest celebrated a big step! Preschool is over 🥹 which also means that our time at our much beloved preschool has ended

To celebrate we made some delicious homemade animal crackers and took some time sharing some of our favorite memories from preschool.

I - ZOOPHONICS!! If something had to replace the Letter People for my kids I am so happy that it was Zoophonics. The song, the dance, the animals. We love it all.

O - This one is going to raise some eyebrows but he said he absolutely LOVED GYM SCHOOL! The teachers absolutely hated it but in this case I think it’s important to remember that the perspective of a child is so different and sometimes the things that seem inconvenient and even maybe annoying can be adventures and memories for our little ones. That said, may the preschool never ever flood again and will gym school memories be left to the few special kiddos that got to experience it.

F - The memories are fresh and he’s not quite ready to reflect so his answer was simple. Today he got to play with special tiny Legos!! My memory for him is being a part of this class. The way these kids all connected was textbook perfect. If a class had to be my last I am happy that it was this one.

Now, if anyone read all that and got to this let me know if you need any personalized animal crackers for your kiddos/classes in the coming week. I have some extra dough to work through.

I really did always want to play tennis - I opted for cheerleading instead…still got the skirt and I got to fly and I got to encourage others - and now I get to help friends who do play tennis with the cutest little cookie set! Full circle, kinda? 🎾

Friday Loaf Cake Chats 🤷🏼‍♀️ - After our delicious brookie cookies last week I didn’t want to do another chocolate chip cookie but I also couldn’t let National Chocolate Chip Day pass by (especially on a Friday!!), pair that with a crazy busy schedule and a simple cake just seemed like the perfect plan.

I - Is apparently great at pole vaulting with big sticks 😅 perhaps we have a track & field star in our future?
O - He would like the power to create snow ❄️
F - The little one wins the prize for best answer of the day (thank you Miss Joan). He learned that you can catch bubbles if you have bubble solution on your hands but if you try to catch them with dry hands they’ll pop!

Friday Cookie Chats - Inspired by the 3rd Grade Bake Sale 🍪 Ask 10 people what their favorite bake sale treat is in two days, no problem, how about 47 people?! What I forgot (but the boys didn’t) was that I apparently said I would make the winning cookie for our chat this week. I had a million other things happening today but a promise is a promise and a brookie was our cookie.

For a new recipe and a rushed timeline this cookie turned out perfectly. I will 100% be making these again and again and again.

I - He learned about the history of Granville this week, specifically that many people came here from Wales.

O - A living, breathing sweet tooth would definitely have to have “candy powder,” as he’s eating a cookie.

F - Would love to get better at building roofs on his forts.

Friday Cookie Chats - Kentucky Derby Edition 🏇🏿

It’s a controversial event but the boys love hearing the unusual horse names and picking their favorite, drinking kid friendly mint juleps and wearing fun hats, which inspired our diy cookie party this afternoon.

I absolutely love how their individual creativity (and flavor preferences) shine through.

Our question this week, of course, was our pick for the best named horse! Otto chose his horse not because he liked the name but because it is from Japan, where Margo is 🥹
