The episode also features Scottsboro’s Unclaimed Baggage Center, the Jesse Owens Memorial Park and Museum in Oakville, and an underground journey through Cathedral Caverns State Park.
“Travels with Darley: Accessible North Alabama” premieres Saturday, January 17 at 3 p.m. CT, focusing on inclusive travel experiences with host Darley Newman and local experts. “I’m excited to showcase North Alabama’s beauty coupled with information on how travelers of all abilities can enjoy varied adventures,” said host Darley Newman. “Making travel more accessible is beneficial to us all. Plus, North Alabama was made for road trips with its stunning lakes and scenery, charming small towns and big cities and hidden treasures.”
The North Alabama episodes also introduce viewers to small museums and local storytellers preserving the region’s rich heritage, including the Scottsboro Boys Museum and Ivy Green, the birthplace of Helen Keller. Viewers will also meet distinctive local entrepreneurs, including the owners of Will’s Creek Vineyard—where a friendly “wine mascot,” Mr. Mittens, welcomes guests to sample Alabama wines.
