Vendors beware!☠️

Someone is currently impersonating Michigan Market Managers and attempting to collect booth payments from our vendors through Venmo.

I have included a screenshot of the account being used. I have blacked out the QR code so that no one accidentally sends money to this person.

If you received a Venmo request from this individual, PLEASE report the account directly to Venmo. This is extremely important. Venmo has informed me that because I personally did not receive a payment request from the account, they are unable to take action based on my report. The people who actually received the fraudulent requests need to report them.

This individual is NOT affiliated with Michigan Market Managers, is NOT authorized to collect payments on our behalf, and any payment request you receive from them is fraudulent.

If you received one of these requests:
• DO NOT PAY IT
• REPORT THE ACCOUNT TO VENMO
• Take screenshots and save any messages or payment requests you received
• Please send me a screenshot as well so I can continue documenting every incident

I am incredibly frustrated that a fraudulent account impersonating a legitimate business cannot be addressed based on the business owner’s report alone. In the meantime, I need your help getting this account reported and shut down before someone else loses money.

Please share this post, especially with anyone who may have applied to or participated in one of our events.

Thank you to everyone who has already reached out and alerted me. Please remember: Michigan Market Managers will NEVER randomly contact you through social media or Venmo requesting payment for a booth space.
