At our second meeting, on December 16, 2010, our group had grown to 280 women in Grand Haven, Spring Lake and Ferrysburg! After three compelling presentations for The LIttle Red House, Bluebird Cancer Retreats, and Habitat for Humanity's Brush of Kindness initiative members selected The Little Red House. Our personal checks for $100 may not seem like much individually, but together they amounted to a $28,000 contribution for the organization! And the amazing thing is that it was raised in one night! An email from a new member summed it up: "This being my first meeting in attendance, I was blown away by the impact of so many capable an compassionate women together in one room. I cannot remember such joy in my heart while writing a check for an intended gift to a worthy recipient."

Celebrating $2 Million of Caring for Our Community ❤️

What an evening—and what an incredible milestone.

Last Thursday, Tri-Cities Women Who Care gathered to celebrate $2 million given to nonprofits in our local community over the past 16 years.

It began with an idea. Cindy Anderson and Wendy Creason brought a group of women together and asked what could happen if each of us gave a little, together. Sixteen years later, look what all of us have accomplished.

And we celebrated in a place that has been part of our story from the beginning. For all of these years, Spring Lake Country Club generously donated the use of its ballroom for our meetings, thanks in large part to the support of former manager Kevin Green. Kevin has also served for many years on the board of Gracious Grounds, making Thursday evening especially meaningful.

To mark our $2 million milestone, we presented Gracious Grounds with a $28,000 gift, helping push us across that remarkable $2 million mark.

To Cindy and Wendy, to Kevin and Spring Lake Country Club, to the nonprofits that do extraordinary work every day—and most of all, to the hundreds of women who have written checks, attended meetings, nominated organizations and invited friends over these 16 years:

We are pleased to share that Tri-Cities Women Who Care has donated $28,500 to The People Center!

This gift will help support the organization’s emergency housing and its work with individuals and families in our community. Thank you to our members for continuing to make such a meaningful difference throughout the Tri-Cities.

The presentations at our June 2026 Tri-Cities Women Who Care meeting were powerful, and the decision was difficult.

Susan Bays presented for the Grand Haven Schools Foundation, which is seeking support for preschool scholarships as costs rise and more families need assistance.

Lucy Welch presented for The People Center. They need new roofs on two of their emergency housing buildings.

Sherri Casey presented for Fresh Coast Alliance, a program helping people recently released from prison readjust to living in our communities.

After hearing all three presentations, we voted to support The People Center.

What can happen when a group of women comes together four times a year with a shared purpose?

Over the past 16 years, the members of Tri-Cities Women Who Care have donated almost $2 million to local nonprofit organizations serving our community.

This Thursday, we'll gather once again to hear from local nonprofits and, through a democratic vote, select the next organization to receive a gift of approximately $30,000.

We had such a great meeting last night. We missed you if you were unable to attend. Cindy Anderson opened the meeting with her usual poignant comments. Mary Jane Evink shared how the Kiwanis Club of Grand Haven used our donations last quarter. Both women gave me goosebumps when listening to them. One of our members commented, “This is the highlight of my quarter (our group and our meeting).” If you ever wondered about us, please consider joining us on June 18. 🌟 Celebrating Compassion and Community! 🌟
Last week Tri-Cities Women Who Care gathered as 266 strong, compassionate women committed to changing lives in our community. Our meeting was nothing short of inspiring, featuring presentations from Cyndi Casemier (Grand Haven Schools Foundation Preschool Initiative), Mary Jane Evink (Tri-Cities Kiwanis - supporting emergency services and the Sandy Huber Reading Initiative), and Megan Doss (Village of Spring North Bank Park). Our group selected the Tri-Cities Kiwanis-supporting emergency services for this quarter’s donation.

Here are some highlights:
💪 Our Tri-Cities MI chapter is not only a top performer in the world, but we also lead in membership, retention, and contributions! With a staggering $1,902,920 donated to date, we are on our way to hitting our $2M goal by June 2026.
🌍 This is the power of Giving Circles—where everyone’s small contributions combine to make a monumental impact. Last Thursday, we raised nearly $30,000 in just one hour, allowing us to directly support a local nonprofit and change countless lives.
✨ Every dollar matters, and every meeting builds our collective strength. As we enter this season of gratitude, our steering committee reflects on how thankful we are for each of you who make this incredible work possible. Together, we're proving that when women unite for a purpose, we can move mountains!

We gather, give and change lives.

Last quarter, Tri-Cities Women Who Care proudly supported Kenzie’s Be Cafe with a $26,000 donation, plus an additional $5,000 from the Schultz Foundation! Stephanie Herder shared how their Work Force Initiative is working to serve a waitlist of 40 people.

We gathered last night for our quarterly meeting. Our speakers were exceptional. They represented three great organizations.

Sallie Crumbacher for the Village of Spring Lake The CAC hopes to create a more suitable, welcoming meeting space for their group therapy sessions
Stephanie Herder for Kenzie’s Be Cafe Work Force Initiative which is designed to take care of their 40 person wait list.
Ellen Eich for Tri-Cities Kiwanis Sandy Huber Reading Fund which gifts all Tri-Cities teachers resources to supplement their classroom reading activities. Barbara Lee thanked us for our support of the Momentum Center Bench Project and showed us the current Sizzle Reel about the great work they are doing. We selected Kenzie’s Be Cafe Work by democratic vote.

Our next meeting is November 20.

Cindy Anderson and Madonna Kramer will be attending the Women Who Care Conference this weekend. We will be the first chapter to donate $2 million dollar to our community by third quarter 2026.
