Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Recruiter Terry Reed is hosting weekly tours at the Detention Center for anyone interested in becoming a detention deputy.

The tours are every Friday from 8-10 a.m. at the center at 3841 Leeds Ave. in North Charleston.

Citizens 18 years or older are welcome to apply; detention deputy positions are a great place to start for those looking for a career in law enforcement! A few of the benefits include:

• Health insurance, retirement, and pension benefits
• Unlimited overtime
• Ability to apply to specialized units such as SWAT Support, search and rescue, dive team, courthouse security, transport, and specialized behavioral unit staffing
• Friendly atmosphere among co-workers
• Annual and sick leave

Those interested should plan on arriving at the Detention Center lobby at 7:45 a.m. Fridays. Please bring a South Carolina-issued ID or driver’s license for a security review prior to the tour.
