For the last five days, I’ve been sitting in almost the same spot — unable to work, unable to focus, unable to join a single meeting. I just can’t. My lifeline is in Jamaica. And feeling so helpless, knowing there’s so little I can do, has been unbearable.

You may have seen the images circulating online showing the catastrophic damage that Hurricane Melissa caused to my beloved country — but you haven’t seen half of it. The photos don’t capture the true devastation, the quiet grief, or the resilience that runs so deep in our people.

Jamaicans will tell you, “Mi alright,” just because they have life. But so many are saying “I’m okay” while they have no food in their belly, no place to sleep, no clothes on their back, and no shoes on their feet.

And then comes the guilt — realizing that so many of my friends and relatives in Kingston, St. Andrew, and St. Catherine were almost untouched, while entire communities on the other side of the island have been completely destroyed. It’s heartbreaking.

Please, I’m asking you to support Jamaica’s rebuilding efforts. Support our people. Support our communities.

I am not collecting any funds personally, but I am directing you to the Government of Jamaica’s official website for verified ways to donate and help rebuild our country.
