Welcome to the world, little one! 👶🏼🌸 Soft pinks, classic hand-piped ruffles, and elegant roses made up this dream of a baby shower order last week.

I was absolutely thrilled to create this matching custom set, featuring detailed baby strollers, bows, and rattles alongside a classic, multi-layered Lambeth style cake. But if I’m being completely honest, the most daunting part of the entire project wasn't the hours of intricate piping—it was the drive! 🛣️🫣

I successfully delivered this multi-tiered beauty all the way from my home here in Glen Ellyn up to Highland Park. Navigating summer road construction and the unpredictability of other drivers with multiple layers of delicate cake in the back is a true test of nerves!

I’m so happy to report it arrived flawlessly and made a beautiful centerpiece for a wonderful family celebration. 🥰✨

Thursday Technique Tip: Elevating clean white icing with a touch of shimmer! 🎀🎨

When it comes to custom cookie sets, the tiniest details make the biggest impact. For this recent baby shower set, I used a fine brush and premium luster dust to delicately embellish the hand-piped bows.

Adding that subtle metallic edge catches the light beautifully and takes a classic, elegant design to a whole new luxury level. It takes a steady hand and a little extra time, but the final display is always worth it! 🕵️‍♀️✨

I had some leftover strawberry cake remnants in the kitchen recently and decided to whip up a surprise treat for my favorite crew. I layered the cake pieces with my homemade strawberry coulis, a little extra jam, heaps of sweet fresh strawberries, and topped it all off with a swirl of classic vanilla American buttercream.

Safe to say, it was a wildly popular hit with my seven-year-old daughter, four-year-old son, and my husband! It’s the perfect, refreshing summer dessert cup. 🥰☀️

Ever wonder how multi-tiered cakes stay perfectly level without collapsing into the bottom layer? It’s all about the hidden physics! 📐✨

When I’m preparing a stacked design—like the Lambeth style cake from last week—structural integrity is everything. This quick clip shows my absolute go-to method for internal support: plastic Boba straws!

They are incredibly sturdy, easy to cut to the exact height of the layer, and provide the perfect flat support grid for the next tier to rest on safely. A little behind-the-scenes prep goes a long way when a cake has a long drive ahead of it! 🤫👩‍🍳

There is nothing worse than spending hours prepping a cake batter just to have half of it stick to the bottom of the pan! 😭❌

Over the years, I’ve perfected a foolproof routine so I never have to stress about a cake releasing cleanly. This 10-second clip shows exactly what I do the second that pan hits the counter!

My secret weapon? I use a good butter spray on both the sides and the bottom of the pan, line the bottom with a piece of parchment paper, and then give that parchment an extra light spray just to be safe. The moment it comes out of the oven, I run a knife gently around the edge, give the pan a light jiggle, and it slides out flawlessly every single time. 🙌👩‍🍳
