Flavor and texture.
Keys word for The Crafted Scone.
Southern biscuits with a twist I call it, but in truth the original scones were oak-cakes made in Scotland. Once they came to Britain women began flavoring the hearty cakes and they evolved into the scone. As they moved to America with the colonist they transformed into the southern biscuit.
Today they have become the Anglophile’s new discovery in which bakers experiment with various additions and usually bake them hard enough to break teeth.
Ask any Brit or Scot and they like their scones soft and flavored mildly whether sweet or savory.
I like my scones soft and simple but with fun combinations of flavors. Much like a carefully designed room, or carefully crafted candle scents, a scone too needs careful crafting for the best taste.
I can create almost any flavor combination and can craft a scone to my buyer’s taste if asked, having done so many times.
Years have gone into my scones.
Unintentional years, but years nonetheless.
Current flavors I have worked up in the past years are:
SWEET:
Mini chocolate chip
Double chocolate
Lemon drop
Apple pie spice (cooked apples)
Apple spice (fresh apples)
Salted caramel Apple (fresh apples)
Pumpkin spice
Mulled wine
Apricot and honey
Plum and wine
Honey, fig & date
Orange and cranberry
Cranberry and white chocolate
Strawberries and cream
Coconut and mango
Sweet potato and brown sugar
And more…
SAVORY:
Gouda and bacon
Sausage and cheddar
Cream cheese and chives
Caramelized onions and Gouda
Curry and coconut
Lemon grass and chilies
Habenaro and mango
Beef and cheddar
Chili and jalapeños
And more…
If my customers can think up a combination I can create it.
I will be selling at the Hall County Farmers Market this fall into December on Saturdays. If I’m not there contact me via messanger and I will get back to you.
