🇩🇪🥨💕 Biggest Day Yet for the Twistery.

What a whirlwind!! So grateful for the love and excitement for my German baked goods.
I even had to call my parents in-law to come help last minute. They immediately hopped in the car and drove up here from Portsmouth. Many of you got to meet them at pickup today. We all had the best time!
Couldn’t have done it without these two. 💕

AND - while the three of us were standing there handing out bags that didn’t fit into the shed, one wonderful (and very sneaky!!) customer quietly brought a friend for the German rubber ducky!
Do we call this situation Duck Duck Pretzel now? I even ran after a car and asked if it was them but they denied it 😂. So the mystery continues and I absolutely love it!
Might have to do a naming contest for the growing German duck family soon.

Anyways, this tired and happy German will rest now and hope you all enjoy the taste of Germany with your friends and families.

Ready for a big weekend ahead! 🥨

Did you know that every single Twistery item is baked fresh on the very day you pick it up from the Pretzel Shed?

Freshness and quality are incredibly important to me. My goal is to give you the same experience you’d get walking into a bakery back home in Germany. In fact, many German bakeries will discount day-old bread—but anything older than that would never make it onto the shelf.

If you decide to save some for later (although I can’t guarantee it’ll last that long 😉), I always recommend freezing it in a zip-lock bag. Bread and pretzels freeze beautifully, bread especially when sliced first.

What’s your favorite way to enjoy leftover bread or pretzels the next day? Toasted, grilled, turned into sandwiches… or do they never survive that long in your house? 😄

Back home, entire towns celebrate with Spargelfest — asparagus festivals filled with long tables, local wine, music, markets, and seasonal foods. Restaurants create entire “Spargel menus,” roadside stands pop up everywhere where you can find fresh asparagus, and families gather for the classic meal:

✨ White asparagus
✨ Hollandaise sauce
✨ Potatoes or savory pancakes
✨ Cooked ham or prosciutto
✨ Fresh bread on the side

Growing up in Germany, this time of year always felt special because it marked the real start of spring and early summer. Food becomes seasonal in a very celebratory way there — people wait all year for Spargel season to arrive.

It got me thinking how much German baking and German food culture go hand in hand. A fresh Laugenbrötchen, rustic Bauernbrot, or soft pretzel alongside a seasonal meal just feels like home to me.

Finished with German pretzel salt…I can’t even begin to describe what my house smelled like this past week as I created them.

You know the drill:

German Pretzel Cinnamon Rolls 🤤🤤🤤

These will melt in your mouth. Your classic cinnamon roll taste, combined with our beloved German pretzel dough.

New on the menu, menu drops later today and orders open up at 6pm tonight for Saturday pickup.

Considering adding a small drizzle of icing, however the yummy cinnamon filling leaks into the individual pans to dip your cinnamon roll into. So good, can’t wait for you to try them!

Story time 🐶 aka employee appreciation post:

If you have picked up pretzels or breads at the Pretzel Shed before, chances are high you have heard our dog Mojo (or seen here “singing” at you from the back deck).

Mojo takes her exhausting job of welcome committee/ tell mom that customers have arrived very seriously.

Mojo was originally found by my husband abandoned on a beach in Djibouti, Africa while he was on a work assignment. She was covered in fleas and ticks and had maybe two more days to live. My amazing husband scooped her up and brought her to a nearby vet who nursed her back to health and kept her for us during the mandatory quarantine. Four months later we got to pick her up at the cargo hangar in Boston and she’s been protecting us ever since (so she thinks).

So, apologies for the continuous barking/ howling/ welcome sing song when you arrive, Mojo is just trying to help 🤣. I promise, we’re working on it though.

AND: much to our dogs’ dismay, no dogs are allowed in the kitchen during bake days 🥨💕

Due to our (obvious) love for dogs, more Pretzels for Pups will be coming soon. In the meantime, adopt don’t shop, love your pups and help any abandoned animals you see 🙏.
