There is a bittersweetness in a very loving and dedicated restoration journey coming to an end. Yet for this old, historic building, a beautiful new chapter is on the horizon.
Soon, the scents of yeast, fruit, coffee and chocolate will fill the air, along with warmth from smiles, kind gestures and fellowship. While Hearth & Barrels Bakery doesn’t have an opening date yet, this dream is drawing closer every day.

Properly scribing these built-ins to fit in these very uneven 200+ year old plaster walls. There is around a 2” difference in depth on the walls between the ceiling and the countertop height. Precision. 👌

Happiest of birthdays to my eldest son, Christian! 🎉
When I asked what kind of cake he wanted, he simply said, “I like bananas, chocolate and pistachios…Mom, get creative with it.”

Browned butter banana cake with pistachio flour & carmelized bananas along with chopped bittersweet chocolate. Then topped with silky smooth pistachio Italian meringue buttercream and pistachio ganache.
