Wyatt's is 8 years old!
Hey friends,
Wyatt’s officially turned 8 years old on February 23rd.
Eight years of this little café in downtown Gainesville.
Eight years of unlocking the doors early in the morning. Eight years of watching the same faces walk in week after week. Eight years of new people slowly becoming regulars, and regulars becoming friends.
I started at Wyatt’s as a barista in 2018, right when the shop first opened. A year later, in 2019, I stepped into ownership. I remember how surreal that felt. I was still learning the rhythms of the bar, still figuring out what it meant to care for a team and a community through a place like this.
Then 2020 happened, and like so many small businesses, there were real moments where we didn’t know if Wyatt’s would continue to exist. Those were heavy days. Uncertain days.
But somehow, through all of it, Wyatt’s kept going.
Through the ups and downs, the early mornings, the late nights, the long lines, the slow days, the celebrations, the mistakes, the growth. Through all of it, Wyatt’s has been steady.
And what I’ve realized over the years is that the cafe itself isn’t really the thing.
It’s the people.
The team that shows up every day and cares deeply about what happens behind that bar. The people who remember your name, your drink, your story. The team that laughs together, works hard together, and carries this place forward day after day.
And of course, the Gainesville community that continues to walk through the doors and choose us again and again.
Eight years is not something I take lightly.
Wyatt’s has been a blessing for my family. It’s been a place where friendships were formed, where leaders grew, and where community actually feels real. I’m grateful for it in ways that are hard to put into words.
So this year, instead of doing a big traditional birthday party, we wanted to celebrate in a way that felt simple and meaningful.
This Friday, March 6, we’re bringing back the Birthday Cake Latte for one day only.
We’re making a limited batch just for the day. Once it runs out, that’s it.
$5 from every Birthday Cake Latte sold will go directly into a bonus pool for our team.
The people who make Wyatt’s what it is.
So if Wyatt’s has meant something to you over the years, I’d love to invite you to come celebrate with us on Friday.
Grab the drink.
Bring a friend.
Hang out for a bit.
And in doing that, you’ll also be putting a few dollars directly into the pockets of the people who care for this place and this community every single day.
We’ll also have DJ Pepito Von Dracula spinning all-vinyl classic salsa and Latin soul, which feels like a pretty great way to celebrate eight years in downtown Gainesville.
Thank you for loving this little cafe.
Thank you for supporting our team.
And thank you for eight beautiful years.
Here’s to the next ones.
