What a wonderful way to wrap up another Darcy’s Dough Driveway Market! 🥖

A HUGE thank you to everyone who stopped by today to support Darcy’s Dough & Delicacies and Kaitlyn’s Frozen Lemonade Stand! Every loaf, sweet treat, bag of produce, and cup of lemonade purchased means more to us than you know.

I am always so humbled by the support you all show our little driveway market. But honestly, one of my favorite parts isn’t even the selling, it’s seeing our neighbors out and about, catching up, chatting in the driveway, meeting new faces, and watching our little corner of the neighborhood come alive for a few hours.

Thank you for continuing to show up, shop small, support local, and make these market days so much fun.

Now it’s time to put my feet up for a bit.

I ☁️✨ Currently: Daydreaming About Driveway Market Day… ✨☁️

Is it too early to start dreaming about next Sunday? Because apparently my brain has already set up the tables. 😂

I’m daydreaming about…

🍞 Fresh sourdough loaves cooling on the racks
☕ Crunchy, dunkable homemade biscotti
🥐 Flaky, sweet turnovers that may require some quality-control sampling
🍅 Beautiful Tennessee tomatoes that actually taste like summer
🫑 Crisp Tennessee bell peppers
🧅 Sweet Vidalia onions
🍎 Crunchy Honeycrisp apples giving us just the tiniest whisper that fall is on its way…

Basically, I’m mentally wandering around the driveway with a loaf of sourdough under one arm, an apple turnover in the other, and absolutely no regrets.

There’s just something I love about turning our driveway into a tiny neighborhood market filled with fresh bread, homemade treats, beautiful produce, special guests, and neighbors stopping by.

Life has been a little extra busy around the Darcy household lately, and I wanted to pop in and say hello!

If you've been wondering where Darcy's Dough & Delicacies has been, I've been pouring my time into two very important projects. The first is writing my PhD dissertation proposal (send coffee ☕😂), and the second is training our newest family member, Teddy, who is working hard to become my future diabetes alert service dog. Between research, teaching, and puppy school, the days have been wonderfully full!

The good news? I'm still baking!

While I've stepped back from regular markets for a bit, I'm happily accepting bread orders, so if you've been craving your favorite sourdough or artisan loaf, just send me a message via text or here.

I'm also excited to share that our next Darcy's Dough Driveway Market will be Sunday, August 23! I'll have fresh bread and some of your favorite goodies, and I can't wait to catch up with everyone.

Thank you for your patience, encouragement, and continued support. Every loaf you purchase helps support this little dream while I finish my doctorate and helps fund Teddy's journey to becoming my future diabetes alert partner.

I am doing half loaf orders (unless separately arranged with me) of Plain, Italian Herb and Cheese or Cinnamon Raisin Sourdough. Pam at The Gainesville Pantry is your person for all the tomatoes and seasonal yummies including plants. You will be picking your order up with Pam!

Some days, the world moves too fast, emails, errands, endless tabs open in my brain. And then there are days like this: softened butter at the perfect consistency, cinnamon and sugar mixed in just the right ratio, dough rolling between my palms while the kitchen fills with warmth.

Baking has always been my little escape hatch. No rushing, no noise, just the quiet comfort of measuring, mixing, and creating something sweet from scratch. These snickerdoodles came out soft in the center, perfectly crinkled on top, and coated in that dreamy cinnamon sugar sparkle that somehow feels like home.

There’s something healing about slowing down long enough to bake cookies. Darcy’s Dough kind of reminds me that joy can be simple.

Darcy’s Dough & Delicacies is currently elbows deep in home improvement… also known as decluttering and getting rid of what we don't need 😅 💪 so no market this month BUT ....

We’re working hard toward some future goals behind the scenes, but we’re still making time to bake for this weekend’s Carport Market with The Gainesville Pantry!

We’ll have:

🍞 Sourdough bread — plain or Italian herb & cheese ($6 half loaf)

🍪 Cookies — chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, and oatmeal raisin ($8 half dozen)

Pre-orders by Thursday at noon to reserve your favorites, but we’ll also have some goodies available for walk-ups!

Come to The Gainesville Pantry and support local makers, grab fresh garden goodies, eggs, plants, pantry treats, and say hi this Saturday from 10 AM–1 PM

There’s something about these early mornings lately, that quiet edge of the day where the sky is just starting to turn and everything feels still and possible again. I’ve been catching a few of those moments between long days, and they’ve been grounding in a way I didn’t realize I needed.

This Spring semester has been a full one.

Between a heavy teaching load and a heavy dissertation load and even some personal matters, it’s made keeping a steady market schedule more difficult than I’d like. On top of that, produce prices at the market are unusually high right now, which just doesn’t sit right for what I want to offer.

So for April, I’m going to pause on hosting the driveway markets.

That said, the oven is still warm. I’m open for private bread orders through the website or feel free to message me directly if you’re craving something fresh.

I’m really looking forward to being back in May, hopefully with more settled rhythms and kinder produce prices as the weather continues to warm.
