My mother (Jazmin) and her husband (Tito) will be there until closing. They're super friendly, and even if you don't want to buy a cookie, they'd love to say hi. We have a mix of Brown Butter Milk Chocolate Chip with Roasted Hazelnuts and Oatmeal Raisin with Roasted Pecans.

Price is $5 and fifteen cents from every cookie sold will be donated to . They're a local nonprofit that supports new food businesses and also provides Culinary education programs to underserved communities in Gainesville. It really is a cool and important organization in the Gainesville community that deserves support.

Hey guys!

Hope you've been well. Just wanted to give you a quick update. My mom will be continuing the cookie business, and will be selling at Food Truck Rally this Saturday 9/30 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Your support would be greatly appreciated! The price has increased to $5 per cookie as well.

On another note, I wanted to thank everyone for your support, friendships, and love that you've shown me these last four years. Every kind word, monetary gift, laugh, etc. meant the world to me. It was bitter sweet leaving but you guys gave me the courage to take a leap of faith to pursue my culinary dreams.

I was lucky to be given the opportunity to work at La Fonda on Main, the oldest Mexican restaurant in San Antonio, with no prior restaurant experience. Like many of you have, they gave me a shot and took me in. None of this would be possible without your generosity. Thank you! Seriously, thank you!

New and exciting updates will be coming. I'm currently working with to improve the marketing of .cookie.rookie.gainesville. They're a talented and dedicated group that are helping me take the business to the next level.

Coming out as Bisexual is one of the best decisions I’ve made. I can stand a little taller, and breathe a little easier. Relationships, although still a struggle for me, improved significantly. I wasn’t walking on eggshells anymore fearing that I’ll “out” myself and lose close friends. Don’t get me wrong, I’d be lying if I didn’t say that it hurts when people treat you differently, or reject you. It can be frustrating and discouraging at times but it makes you appreciate those special people in your life that love you for you.  

Pride month, to me, has always been a celebration of being your most authentic self and living an honest life. We can all identify with struggling to be honest about a secret that we fear will get us kicked out, or lose status, in our tribe. It can be a career change, leaving an unhappy relationship,, or even coming out of the closet. Whatever it is, it's better to endure the temporary pain of rejection than a lifetime of regret.

One of the quotes that comforts me when I'm afraid of failing, or embarrassing myself, when taking risks is "The brave don't live forever but the cautious don't live at all. The only thing that's truly terrifying is the unlived life."

I'll be selling my cookies on Memorial Day from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Veterans and Active Duty get a free cookie. Any first responder, healthcare professional, government employee, and Veteran or Active Duty member get a 25 cent discount per cookie. Normal pricing is as follows:

$4 for 1 cookie. 1 dollar off your order for 3 cookies. $2.50 off your order for 6, and $4 off your order for 12.

15 cents from every cookie sold is being donated to . They're a local non-profit that provides culinary education to local youth that come from underserved communities in Gainesville.

El Cookie Rookie is open for business! You can pre-order by email ([email protected]) until I finish updating my website. I’ll be selling on Sundays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. starting 05/21 in front of 3606 SW 34th St, Gainesville, FL 32608 where you can pick up your preorder, or buy in-person while supplies last. The flavors are Oatmeal Raisin with Honey Roasted Pecans and Brown Butter Milk Chocolate Chip with toasted Hazelnuts at $4 for a quarter pound cookie. I hope to pay it forward and 15 cents from every cookie sold will be donated to Working Food. They’re a local non-profit that provide business development support and infrastructure for food-based businesses; education on gardening, seed stewardship, nutrition, and cooking for local youth.
