Happy Bastille Day! Bonne Fête Nationale!
July 14th, Quatorze Juillet, celebrates French culture. La Bastille refers to a medieval fort in Paris, and was taken by the people during the the French Revolution. There are military parades in France to commemorate the abolition of feudalism, but it’s more commonly understood and celebrated as an easygoing day to enjoy food, drink, company, and a few fireworks. Like the Fourth of July here!
New Mural Giveaway!
Emily , our artist in residence (and mothercrust service manager and espresso queen and scheduler extraordinaire and converter of ideas and solutions into checklists and semi-voluntary HR officer) made this mural!
The illustrations are of wine grapes, the coffee plant, and wheat stalks, the foundation of our products.
So, a thematic month-long giveaway! Petit will giveaway a basket of baguette, croissants, wine, and coffee to one lucky guest who…

Our savory lunch options! Clockwise from top right:
Ham & Gruyère Rose
Quiche du Jour
Croque Provençal with Artichokes a la Barigoule, and Classic Croque Monsieur
Croissant-Bagel “Cragel” with Lox and Capers
Tomato & Goat Cheese Rose
Cragel with Whipped Everything Cream Cheese
Spinach & Feta Croissant
Bavarian Pretzel with Tomato & Gruyère
We’ve had all these items for the past few weeks and you have provided some nice feedback - thanks!
Everything has been quite popular except for the tomato & goat cheese rose and spinach & feta croissant. We’d love to keep serving them - the tomato & goat cheese rose tastes like a pizzette that went on a trip to Nice, and the spinach & feta tastes like spanakopita but croissant-ified. It’s summer, so maybe too soon to tell - we’ll continue to try and adjust our menu and quantities produced so we have what you want when you want it.
And perhaps it goes without saying, but all of these items are pre-order-able.
Le Petit Palmer!
A summer drink to go with our new lunch options! Brewed English breakfast tea from with homemade raw sugar lemonade 🍋🌞
Spinach feta croissants!
One of the main items of feedback we’ve received is for more lunch-y products. Here’s a start, with more coming this week :)
It’s a 🐶 party .park with some friends from
Thanks for your understanding and a little team socializing time :)
Friendly and excited reminder! Our tasting with Jean-Francois from JF Wines is tomorrow (Saturday), 1-4pm. Hope to see you!! 🥂
This special summer drink is now available. The matcha is from and the lemonade we made ourselves and wowowow 👌✨
June is Pride Month!
Petit will have special sugar cookies to celebrate throughout, and hopefully the cake and boule soon when we figure out logistics.

Next Saturday! We haven’t tasted with Jean-Francois from JF wines for too long, so we are tasting many of his best sellers. Hope to see you.
Petit Uppercrust is open regular hours during Memorial Day Weekend. 8am - 7pm, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. 🇺🇸
put together an Uppercrust catering menu! We’ll have photos of our packages in the coming days 💝
In the meantime, we’ll work to clarify any questions you might have (this is new for us too!). Ones our team asked during brainstorming and planning are:
🎁 will catering be available at ?
🎁 how are the items packaged?
💐 we package the items in boxes, and put the boxes in handle bags.
🎁 do you deliver?
💐 not yet! Hoping this may be popular enough one day to offer delivery as well.
Thanks so much for thinking of us for this. If you’d like us to drop off a copy of our menu to your office or business, we’d love to swing by 🚚 💨
Hi all! We have received some in-store feedback from you about our hours.
We are considering opening earlier (7:30am instead of 8am) and closing earlier (6pm instead of 7pm).
The poll is in our story if you would like to share your preference, or please message us! Always eager to serve you better. Many thanks!! ✨
Alejandro is our operations manager, and spends a fair amount of their time at Petit. A jack of all trades, and gatekeeper of none, Alejandro is at his most glorious, adorable self when training and empowering others to work smarter and better.
“The pain au chocolat is my favorite because it is simple. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, so the chocolate is just right for me to have with a cappuccino in the morning.”
⏳ what is a moment you would like to relive?
🌳 hiking up El Yunque in Puerto Rico with my Uncle Ruben, and getting to hear stories and legends of the island. It’s this bright and warm memory of family that means a lot to me.
Neighborly request :)
Our friends at Gainesville Vision have been patient with our parking, ahem, “arrangement” through the first few months of our being open. Because their lot is adjacent to our patio, many guests have assumed it is our lot.
Sometimes this is not a big deal, but unfortunately we’ve had a number of instances where folks have left trash or other personal belongings on the Gainesville Vision lot from their visit to us, or from the plaza on the way to us. This is a bummer, and our neighbor’s patience is wearing understandably thin.
We made a little parking guide in our story and story highlight to show where our lot is, and how you can get there. There’s often street parking too!
Let us know if we can answer any questions over messaging or in person. Thank you for your reading, understanding, and cooperation ✨
Christina is one of our service shift leads. She brings our Princess Margaret cake to all her family gatherings. Incidentally, she will *not* bring her talents and sass to south Florida (“never living there again”) shortly for medical school. We’re rooting for Vanderbilt 😬
🍽 what is your go to meal after a long day?
🍝 I love making pasta with homemade sauces packed with fresh veggies and basil from my garden. You can’t forget the garlic bread too!
Pablo, or Pabs, is bathing in the morning glow of his favorite - butter rolls.
💡 what’s something we might not know about you?
🐸 I can identify all native Florida frog calls.
💕 what’s your favorite kind thing to do for others?
💝 make them something - a gift, dish, or cup of tea.
Everyone say 👋 to our service manager, Terry!! .weber.589
Terry has learned to love GroupMe and does this amazing thing where she has spoons ready for you exactly where and when you need. That’s anticipation!
🌰why is [redacted: a slice from I Love NY Pizza across the plaza during your break] *the Nutella croissant* your favorite?
🍫I love the marriage of the Nutella with our delicious croissants!
💡what is something you wish more guests knew about Petit Uppercrust?
🥣 our homemade soups!
✋how many languages can you say “hello” in?
🤟three! English, Spanish, and French.
Fun fact: our friends at the county buildings office extended us a “temporary” certificate of occupancy in March that allowed us to serve you while finishing a few odds and ends.
What a couple months it’s been! An affirming milestone and reminder to look back on our short time together. Thank you to all who have been following our progress and have visited.
A little get-to-know-you with Zoey .miller98, who is leaving us for nursing school (… except for some possible “speed dial” busy weekend covers - thanks Zoey!!).
🥚what do you like about quiche?
🍳there are so many options! Almost everyone could find one they like, and explore combinations of flavors they haven’t tried. They are also very silky and creamy. My favorite is goat cheese and chive 🐐🐐
💕what’s the nicest thing a co-worker has done for you?
💞 co-workers help daily, so it’s hard to pick just one. I think one thing was when a co-worker was so quick to cover a last minute thing so I could be with a family member when they left the hospital.
👧what smell reminds you of childhood?
🍋citrus! It reminds me of having orange juice for breakfast before school and lemonade during the summer after playing outside.
Petit’s Mother’s Day Weekend specials! Here Saturday and Sunday, in addition to our regular menu!
Mother’s Day Weekend wine tasting! This Saturday, 1-4pm.
We were blown away by the turnout this past weekend (thank you thank you thank you). So excited for this special round two - an all-Italian lineup! Hope to see you Saturday. 🥂
TUESDAY, MAY 3
With Mother’s Day weekend approaching, today is Petit’s first holiday pre-order deadline! We’ve had a few doozies and Ben and Maggie are really excited to make special things for you 💫
G I V E A W A Y
Mother’s Day is a happy time for many, but is complicated for many as well.
Inspired by an post, we join our elder sibling in inviting you to celebrate “Grown Ups Who Love You Day” with us - through a giveaway!
To participate in our “Grown Ups Who Love You Day” giveaway, please tag a grown up who has helped you grow and flourish… along with their favorite treat that you’d like included in a custom Petit Uppercrust gift basket 🧺💐💖
PS: this giveaway is being held separately from, and in addition to, the same giveaway ✨
Wine tasting this Sunday, 1-4pm 🥂
We’ve had a few inquiries about how the tastings work and/or differ from those previously held
Here’s a little guide from Alejandro and Madelyn :)
“Tickets” are $15, and include a tasting of each wine, as well as cheeses and accoutrements. Santé!
Petit Uppercrust’s team may be petit, but it is fierce. Alyssa is our primary closing shift lead, and her [shockingly] self-deprecating sense of humor belies her serious professionalism. Everyone loves Alyssa.
Un Petit q & a!
Why cinnamon rolls?
I made them a lot as a kid, and they remind me of home. Only the cream cheese, though. That’s my one true pair right there. When it was snowing and I got that day off school, and my mom was home from work, we’d always make Pillsbury ones. She’d put her homey touch on them, though. Our cinnamon rolls remind me of that.
What’s something we might not know about you?
I’ve read the Twilight series over 20 times, I watch the movies at least 3 times per week, and I’ve heard the audio books at least 15 times.
Petit’s Mother’s Day Weekend Menu!
This is our first holiday taking pre-orders for our full special menu. We’re excited, a little nervous, and grateful for your consideration and patience.
The link to pre-order is below:
Chocolate peanut butter sandwich cookies! Best served cold, like revenge 🍫🥜
Wine tastings are back! 🥂
When: Sunday, May 1, 1-4pm
Why: for fun! And “learning.”
What: 6 wines, selected from the room, with cheeses and accompaniments to pair.
No RSVP required. So so so excited to spend some quality time with many of you, and enjoy some neat wines together.
Happy Sunday! Four thumbs up for more products 🎉
This will be a bit of a long one…
TL;DR - we are making more products every day :)
About a month ago, we created a guest feedback survey. We received over 200 (!) responses, and lots of them had detailed notes. Thank you thank you thank you - your investment in us means so much.
One of the most meaningful bits of data we received is that 83% of the guests who responded felt product variety was good to very good and 86% of guests who responded felt able to choose something enjoyable during the visit. We read the flip side: nearly 1/6 in guests who responded haven’t been able to order exactly what they want at Petit.
As a new bakery, figuring out how much to make and when is… well, hard.
That is perhaps to be expected, but after six weeks of baking and serving, your and our expectations for ourselves should be appropriately high. It’s no fun to grossly overproduce, even if we take solace in donating our leftovers. It’s even less fun to explain to you that we don’t have what you’d like when you’ve made a trip to see us. Too often, especially these past two weeks, the parenthetical part of that sign has held, and we have closed earlier than you or we have wanted because we silly did not make enough.
Given the pragmatic realities of running a baked-fresh-daily bakery, the Goldilocks rule for us is to make what we think we will serve plus a “buffer” so that every guest who visits is able to find something you like. Right now, the solution is simple: make some more! We can do that.
Thank you for your patience with us and for reading. We’ve learned a lot from and with you. Hope to see you soon.
By popular request (and the acceptance of the bakers who have more buttery, crusty pans to clean), we are making *substantially* more quiches!
Petit recipe testing for Mother’s Day 🍓🍓
These strawberry tartelettes (or something close to!) will be available in limited quantities the rest of the week while we continue to test and refine :)
