My name is Michelle and I am the owner of
Sunshine + Sugar Bakery. I'm a wife, a mother of two amazing children, and a self-taught baker. My passion is making beautiful and delicious treats. My love of all things food started at an early age being in the kitchen with my mom. While I didn't know it then, watching her make dinners for our family would create a deep love of all things food. I started

baking religiously when I was 18 and it's been a real treat, pun intended, to see my baking techniques blossom. My favorite part of baking, aside from eating it and taking pictures of it, is learning from my mistakes. It's really exciting to start out with a "just okay" recipe and turn it into something out of this world scrumptious. So that's me in nutshell, I'm a little quirky and insanely sarcastic, but don't worry, I'll be sure to add some of my sweetness into your baked goods.

Hoho cake jar is layers of chocolate cake, a whipped vanilla filling & a rich semi sweet chocolate ganache. All the right textures 🥲

Sunshine & Sugar is 10!!

I can’t believe that. Truly when I started this I had no idea where this would take me. If I had to share some words of wisdom to anyone who wants to start their business, it would be don’t overthink it. So many people ask me how I got started, I just did it & let everything else fall into place. I think that stepping stone is always the hardest. I tell everyone that the two things that keep me going are determination and delusion & I’d say they are both pretty amazing qualities. I also think there’s power in faking it until you make it, because being critical and harsh on yourself is a hinderance and can be the thing that sets you back!

Fun facts about Sunshine & Sugar:
💜I wanted to initially start up as a macaron ice cream sandwich cart! But I changed course due to start up costs/limited space in my apartment. LOL
💜I came up with Sunshine & Sugar randomly laying in bed. MySpace days I was Michelle Sunshine & I wanted something that felt “me”.
💜I don’t do character cakes/hardly work with fondant.
💜I had to start my entire business from scratch after moving from CA to OH in 2021. I still miss my CA customers, talk about unconditional love.
💜The small business connections that I’ve made have been the best part of this experience.
💜Sunshine & Sugar solely supported my family for years while my husband transitioned into a new role.

Your weekly oatmeal digest: Coconut berry crunch overnight oats!! Ok - listen, there will not be a new flavor every single week, but that being said, I have a hard time because I love trying all the new things. This flavor is so good & I literally ate it for dessert last night.

Berry chia compote, coconut overnight oats, topped with crushed pistachios & almonds. It just hits. 🎉

This flavor & berry Biscoff can be found tomorrow morning ! Protein bites on hand will be choc pb & this will be the last round of Cadbury mini egg protein bites.
