🍫🍫If you know anything about me and my cake preferences, it’s that chocolate cake is my FAVORITE! Always has been, always will be. I’m a sucker for it. Even when I was a kid and didn’t really like anything chocolate, I still loved chocolate cake. It’s nostalgic for me at this point and it’s my birthday cake every year. As an adult I very much like chocolate (more than just chocolate cake), I’m just particular. I like good quality chocolate and I typically prefer dark chocolate, perfectly tempered that it snaps when you bite into it. I don’t like the cheap candy bar chocolate. 🙅🏻‍♀️

All that to say that I’m also very particular in the chocolate I use for my baking. I use a dark chocolate cacao powder (not cocoa) which gives my chocolate items such rich and depth of flavor and I use good dark chocolate chips! You can literally taste the difference in what I make vs what others make. Come try for yourself! I’ll be at this weekend with a variety of gluten free brownies and other treats ✨

This cake (pictured) was a gluten free cookies and cream cake (my ultimate favorite) for a book loving pr***en! The cake had a bronze finish so it was shimmery in the light! As always brought the vision to life with this custom topper 🙌🏻

☮️Did you know today is the International Day of Peace?!

For me, other than a hot cup of tea and piece of chocolate after my baby goes to sleep (you moms out there know), baking is what brings me peace! There's something about being in the zone creating something delicious and artistic that makes the world around me just disappear.. especially when there's a good playlist! 🎶

Hi there! 👋🏻 I'm Kristen, the one and only lady behind KP Bakes Cakes.

I'm gonna skip the formal "about me" as you can find that on my newly updated website kpbakescakes.com (I'm no professional website designer and I'm still working out the kinks, so bear with me as I learn). Instead, I'm gonna take this opportunity to tell you what I've been up to and what baking means to me.

Many of you know I took a hiatus from baking last year while I navigated many big and exciting changes in my personal life. My husband and I made a quick decision to move across the DFW back to our hometown, Denton, so we could be closer to family. In January, we welcomed our beautiful little girl to the world. It's been a wild ride 💖

I could go on and on about what food means to me but I'll try to keep it brief. Food is beautiful and universal. Food has the ability break barriers and connect people around the world. Food is magic ✨

Since I started KPBC, it's been important to me that the people I love most, many of who are celiacs, feel included. What better way than through food? Therefore, I bake exclusively GLUTEN FREE (I can also usually accommodate other dietary restrictions as requested). Everyone should be able to be included in celebrations and to have awesome and delicious choices! 🎉

I offer so much more than what I could print on a menu! I like classic favorites but I also like more unusual flavors. I love working on custom flavor ideas and bringing special memories to life through food. Have a family recipe you'd like me to recreate? Send it my way! I love learning through others and through my travels around the world. ✈️

I'm excited to be back to baking and look forward to continuing my relationships with all my DFW clients as well as meet new clients here in Denton! 🥰
