Let’s talk about our new menu item, our pop tarts. Since we launched it, everyone has been loving it! So let me show you how we make it. I didn’t get a chance to show you how we make our pie dough, but we do a flakey pie dough. We roll and cut our pie circles, then fill it with an organic preserve (Bonne Maman Fruit Preserve, this particular flavor was a 4 fruit blend). We brush the border with egg wash, seal it, and use a pie cutter to give it an extra seal and pretty edges. Then we egg wash the whole thing and bake it until it’s perfectly golden brown. Last, we make a glaze with the preserve, powdered sugar and milk and let it set. The final results, pure deliciousness! The filling pops in your mouth and you get layers of flakey pie crust. It’s definitely a messy eat, but totally worth it. We can’t wait to offer these in our shop with rotating flavors.
