I've been having a little too much fun in the kitchen, and this lineup has some unusual flavor combinations that deserve a proper introduction!

𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐊 𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐂 𝐒𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐃𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇

Black garlic brings a mellow, slightly sweet richness, while black sesame adds nuttiness and sharp white cheddar brings everything together. My boyfriend said it tastes like a REALLY good grilled cheese. 😂

𝐔𝐁𝐄-𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐃 𝐁𝐀𝐆𝐄𝐋𝐒

A colorful swirl of subtly sweet, nutty ube and cozy pumpkin with vanilla and warm autumn spices. Ube is a purple yam, and its flavor is much milder than its vibrant color suggests!

🌶️ 𝐊𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐑 𝐁𝐄𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃 𝐒𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐄𝐒

Our first savory scone! Buttery cornbread, sharp cheddar, smoky paprika, and hot honey. A little sweet, a little spicy, and wonderfully savory.

Brown butter pumpkin spice cookies packed with gooey cinnamon roll filling and graham cracker chunks coated in cream cheese flavored white chocolate. Pumpkin cheesecake meets cinnamon rolls in cookie form!

🌶️ 𝐕𝐀𝐌𝐏𝐈𝐑𝐄 𝐊𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐑 𝐅𝐎𝐂𝐀𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐀

If you've been around The Giving Treat for a while, you know I have a 𝒔𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒃𝒍𝒆𝒎...

I cannot stop creating new things... 😬🤣

And somewhere along the way, a lot of those creations found permanent homes on the menu. Which has left me with a very large menu to manage and not nearly enough room to keep experimenting.

𝑺𝒐 𝑰'𝒎 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒖𝒑.

𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐈𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐄𝐑 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐅𝐔𝐋𝐋 𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐔.

Starting next week, The Giving Treat will have two menus:

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐒 - a smaller permanent menu made up of the things you order and love the most.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐑𝐎𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 - a small collection of specialty flavors that will change every two weeks. This is where seasonal favorites, past creations, returning flavors, and all of the weird little ideas that pop into my head will live.

𝑵𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒖 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒔 𝒊𝒕'𝒔 𝒈𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓. In fact, you'll probably see more variety this way - I just won't be trying to keep all of it available at the same time.

I'm hoping this gives you the best of both worlds: your favorites are always here, while there's regularly something new to look forward to.

And for me, it means a bakery that's a little more organized, a lot more sustainable, and still gives me plenty of room to create.

After a brief and very unwanted vacation, I am officially back in the kitchen!

My middle finger has undergone an extremely rigorous rehabilitation program involving kneading doughs, shaping cookies and generally proving that it can once again perform its most important duties. 😂

And I'm happy to report that it's healed enough for me to feel comfortable getting back to baking!

🚨 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐆𝐈𝐕𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓 𝐈𝐒 𝐓𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐀 𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘 𝐔𝐍𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐃 𝐕𝐀𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐊 🚨

Well. This week has been…a lot.

Apparently I need to stop trying to fight gnats with my bare hands. 🙄

In a completely unnecessary battle with one of those tiny household menaces, I managed to miss the gnat, hit the wall, and tear a ligament in my left middle finger. 𝑩𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒍𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕'𝒔 𝒂 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒏.

After a very busy week of baking, my finger has now decided it has had enough and has gone a little numb, so I'm taking the hint. I hate having to do this, especially after such an exciting start to our fall menu, but I need to let this thing heal instead of turning a bad week into a much longer problem.

Fall is officially happening in my kitchen, whether the weather is ready for it or not. 😤🍁

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒖 𝒊𝒔 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝑶𝑷𝑬𝑵!

But before I tell you about the food, I want to say something about the people who make The Giving Treat possible.

Some of you have been here since day one. Some of you found me along the way. Some of you have ordered once, and some of you have become regulars that I now recognize by your orders.

You have continued to grow with me as I've grown this little bakery. You've been incredibly kind, patient, encouraging, and supportive through recipe experiments, new products, learning curves, oven disasters, and everything else I've thrown at you.

So this week, I want to give a little something back.
