You didn’t expect me to take the highway all the way to Tennessee, did you?

I made a proper road trip of it yesterday, covering 260 miles on country byways. The signs kept saying this way is faster, but I stuck to it and didn’t touch the highway once.

As John Prine said, “sometimes it’s just nice to drive around.”

I’m in Johnson City this morning, heading a little further south to pick up our new oven.

Meet Daniel + Karri ✨

The husband-and-wife duo behind Good Roads Bakehouse in Frankford, where life moves a little slower and everything is made with intention—from scratch-made pepperoni rolls to hand-painted signs and locally sourced ingredients.

After years of life on the road, Daniel found his way to West Virginia and built something rooted in craft, community, and simplicity alongside Karri’s creativity and artistry.

Their motto? “Try Slow.” And honestly… we could all probably use that reminder :)

Let’s talk parking!

Short version - it’s a loop. Follow the arrows.

We love seeing so many of you. When our lot gets busy navigating it can get a little tricky. To keep everyone safe and keep traffic moving smoothly, we have a simple, one-way loop system.

It’s a weird setup, so here is your foolproof guide to mastering the Good Roads Bakehouse loop:

Enter: Pull into the main lot in front of the bakery.

The Loop: When you're ready to leave, follow the driveway around the back of the lean-to building (just follow the arrows)

Exit: This one-way loop will bring you right back around and safely out onto Route 219.

Following this flow helps us avoid any accidental fender-benders and ensures everyone can get their baked goods stress-free.
