In the past five decades Star of the West Milling Company has continued to grow. Expanding from a single mill to five flour mills today in four different states and nine country elevators handling corn, soybeans, processing edible beans and providing local farmers with their crop inputs and sound agronomic advice.

Sustainability Saturday: Do you see wheat stubble fields starting to green up and wonder what is happening? It might be clover, as shown below! Many Michigan growers frost-seed clover so it grows after harvest for a cover crop. This clover can be found in the Ubly area on Kevin Messing's farm. Kevin delivers soft white wheat to Star of the West and we appreciate his business and his focus on sustainbility and cover crops!

Meet Alvin, Marcia & Jeff Herzog’s four-legged companion and now an award-winning pup.

Sporting a Nightingale Flour bag as part of his costume, Alvin took home 2nd place for Best Dressed Dog at the Dog Bowl this year.

Jeff spent more than 40 years driving truck for Star of the West, and we love seeing the Star of the West family represented in such a fun way.

Top-Notch Tuesday: Thank you to Kori R. from our Willard team who recently took a Star of the West truck to the Touch a Truck event at the Attica Independent Fair in Attica, Ohio. It was a great opportunity for the kids to see a vehicle different than emergency vehicles, and of course Kori took the opporunity to pass out fish-shaped crackers to the attendees!
