🚨 Long read alert: Sorry, not sorry! 🤭
Throwback!!!! I can’t believe the idea of Chrissy’s came to life around a year ago! Before my final fall semester began, I needed a way to make money to help pay for school. I was going to be student teaching Monday through Friday from 8 to 4 without getting paid, so finding a job that worked around my schedule would be difficult. That’s when I decided to host a fundraiser in Beeville selling lemonades and cookie cups. I put signs all over town, and when the day finally came, my family showed up to support me! They even stood outside holding signs to encourage people to stop by. It went slower than anticipated, but the people who stopped by fell in love with the cookie cups. I knew there was something special there and that I had to keep going.
Once the semester began, I would spend the day student teaching, finish my assignments, and then prepare the dough, bake the cookie cups, and add the fillings in my SiSTAR’s kitchen. Shout out to her and her boyfriend for being so patient while I took over their kitchen! Even through the long days, my student teaching experience was amazing. I fell even more in love with bilingual education and helping young students reach their full potential. Saying goodbye was so hard because they will always have a special place in my heart. They inspired me to pursue my master’s degree in bilingual education.
Once I began my master’s, Chrissy’s finally gained her name and became much more than a way to help pay for school. I dedicated more time to building a business that could bring comfort through all the changes life brings us. What I once thought might be temporary became the bakery I had dreamed of having since I was younger, just in a way I never expected. There is so much more to this story, including how Chrissy’s got her name and what inspired my goal of bringing comfort through change, but I’ll save those stories for another time!
Thank you to everyone who has supported Chrissy’s through every order, share, recommendation, and kind word. We’ve come a long way, and we’re just getting started! Here’s to one year and many more to come! 💗🍪
