🍋🫐 When your son turns 30 and says he wants something made with blueberry vodka… challenge accepted. 😏🤣

Damon gave me exactly one requirement for his birthday dessert: blueberry vodka.

So then came the important question… what the heck am I going to make with blueberry vodka? 🤔

Damon LOVES cheesecake, lemon is his all-time favorite flavor, and blueberry and lemon are basically a match made in dessert heaven… so an idea was born:

Lemon Blueberry Vodka Cheesecake. 🍋🫐😋

I took my regular cheesecake recipe and started experimenting—lots of fresh lemon in the cheesecake, then a homemade blueberry topping with blueberry vodka.

What I did NOT anticipate was this thing becoming approximately 14 stories tall. 🤣

While baking, it was still jiggling like crazy, so naturally I thought it wasn't done. Then I stuck a thermometer in the center and discovered it was already at 180°.

Me: 😳

Cheesecake: I have chosen chaos.

Oven OFF. Back away slowly. Hope for the best. 🤣

Then this giant cheesecake to survive our 10-hour trip to South Texas—including the unexpected Oregon Trail detour down an actual dirt road. 😂

And somehow…

IT. IS. FREAKING. AMAZING. 🤤

Damon and I got into it last night, and I'm calling this experiment an absolute success. Rich, creamy lemon cheesecake with that sweet-tart blueberry vodka topping… GOOD LORD. 😋

Happy 30th birthday to my baby boy. ❤️ You asked for blueberry vodka, and Mama understood the assignment.

🎂🩰 The Oregon Trail: Cake Edition 🤣

This sweet ballerina cake was made for my granddaughter Eremia's 6th birthday, and apparently getting it to her was going to require an ADVENTURE.

We were about 9 miles from our destination after an already very long drive when US 281 completely shut down. After sitting in traffic for about an hour, GPS finally offered another route.

GPS: Take this road.

Me: “Oh heck no.”

GPS: Oh heck yes, if you ever want to get there. 🤣

And off we went… onto what I assumed would be a gravel road.

It was not a gravel road.

It was 5+ miles of actual DIRT ROAD. 😳🤣

So there I am creeping along at approximately covered-wagon speed, waving everyone around me because I had two cakes in that car and absolutely nobody was going to pressure Mimi into rally racing a buttercream tutu through South Texas. 😂

Every bump:

Check the cake. 👀

Another rut.

Check the cake. 👀

Someone comes flying up behind me.

👋 Go around. Save yourself. 🤣

Somehow our 8-hour trip turned into about 10 hours, we completed the Oregon Trail: Redneck Girl Bakes Edition, nobody died of dysentery, and THIS little ballerina arrived without so much as a ruffle out of place! 🙌🤣

And seeing how excited my sweet Eremia was about her birthday cake made every single dusty mile worth it. 🥰🩷

Happy 6th birthday to Mimi's little ballerina! 🩰👑🎂

You have survived the Oregon Trail.

Well… Redneck Munchies officially survived its first trip into the wild! 🤠❤️

Yesterday was our very first Redneck Munchies event, and I honestly didn't know what to expect.

This whole thing started as one of those crazy ideas that somehow turned into weeks of recipes, taste testing, ridiculous product names, bags and labels everywhere, and me wondering more than once what in the world I'd gotten myself into. 🤣

But we DID IT.

We learned a lot, sold a lot of goodies, and found some definite favorites. Backdoor Bonfire and Pecan Pie Crunch were two of our biggest sellers, and people absolutely loved sampling Pecan Pie Crunch and The Gilded PB&J. 😋

But some of my favorite parts of the night had nothing to do with sales.

The kids had an absolute BLAST with our prize wheel. Watching them get excited about spinning for little toys was so much fun, and I loved getting to interact with all of them. ❤️

Brandon had the BEST time. He helped at the booth, visited with some of his favorite people, went trick-or-treating, enjoyed the live music, and pretty much spent the evening with a giant smile on his face. 🥰

And speaking of the music—we got to meet the guys from Texas Side Piece, who kept us entertained with classic rock all evening. Brandon and I enjoyed them so much that during their break we invited each of them to pick out a bag of Munchies on us. They were the sweetest guys and even gave us a shout-out from the stage afterward. By the time we were packing up, apparently I had officially become “Candy Lady.” 🤣🤣🤣 I know this because the lead singer said, bye Candy Lady! Thank you! In the middle of the song and waved to us as we were about to leave.🥰

A huge thank-you to Tim and Gloria at Backwoods & Co. for being so welcoming and helpful. From helping vendors get situated to creating such a relaxed, fun atmosphere, they made our first Munchies event a really good one.

And thank you to everybody who stopped, sampled something, bought something, spun the wheel, talked with us, laughed with us, or just encouraged this crazy little idea of mine. ❤️

Yesterday wasn't about everything going perfectly. It was about finally taking this idea out into the world and seeing what happened.

And I think Redneck Munchies might just have something here. 🤠❤️
