You guys, running a business is not for the weak!! (As many of you probably know.) In my 17 years of doing cakes, I have met all kinds of people. But let me just get this off my chest….
As a small business owner, I do my best to reply to everyone in a timely and professional way. Even on my days off, if I’m not too busy, I’ll check my messages and reply back. When that happens, please realize that I’m taking away time from my other responsibilities and duties for YOU!! I’m spending time checking availability for you, working up an estimate, checking pricing on supplies I may need for your potential order, sometimes spending hours getting the details from you to create a truly custom cake…you get the point. Then NOTHING…CRICKETS!
The number of times this happens is unreal!
Being left without a response after spending the time answering detailed questions and creating quotes is beyond frustrating and happens constantly. Let’s be honest it’s discourteous and disrespectful to my time and effort invested.
You wouldn’t walk away in the middle of a conversation with someone in person, so please show the same respect online!
All I ask is for basic communication when reaching out to a small business. A simple response goes a long way. 💜
