Texas FINALLY decided to feel like fall… so naturally, my toddler took over as head chef. 😂🍎🍂
After a very hot summer, today was the first day that actually felt like crisp fall weather in Texas, and I knew it was time to make a cozy batch of homemade apple c***r.
This is one of those simple seasonal recipes I love making from scratch with my little ones—especially when we can use what we already have at home. 🤎
🍎 Homemade Apple C***r
4 Granny Smith apples, sliced
2 small oranges OR 1 whole orange, sliced with peel
1 cinnamon stick
½ tsp cloves
½ tsp nutmeg
4 cups water
¼–½ cup honey or maple syrup, optional
Add the apples, orange, spices, and water to a large pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until the fruit is soft and the flavors have infused.
I leave the apple cores in while simmering for extra flavor and less food waste. Once everything is finished, strain the c***r and add honey or maple syrup to taste if you want it sweeter.
And don’t toss those leftover apples! Remove the cores, orange peels, and cinnamon stick and turn them into homemade applesauce for your toddler. 🍎
Of course, my little chef had to take over the recipe a few times… and sneak plenty of apples and oranges for “quality control.” 😂
Save this for the next crisp fall day and tell me: would your little one want to be head chef too? 👇🏻 Trader Joe's ALDI USA Runamok
