THE FIGS AND I. Just thought to share this fig story. No this is not a once upon a time this happened to me yesterday. To be honest I wasn’t planning to order any fresh figs this summer due to the shipping costs and the rising prices of goods in general and much higher for perishable foods.Upon several calls and requests from my wonderful customers, couldn’t say NO. So , early last week I ordered figs and yellow dates from my usual supplier in California scheduled to arrive today Friday. Wednesday I received a call telling me that my shipment was put by mistake in the wrong truck going to Tennessee and they will be dropped off Thursday at their wholesaler in West Memphis. Goods paid for I didn’t have no choice but to go pick them up. Closed MOMOs yesterday and headed to Memphis. Surely my order was there but surprise! I ordered 14 flats of figs and 6 cases in boxes. Total 20 cases.Only 6 cases shipped but not the rest, 11 hours round trip , frustrated , mad and upset I headed back praying GOD to keep me safe on the road. 2:50 AM I arrived at MOMOS not knowing how I made it but thankful. YES, not a lot but figs are here as well as yellow fresh dates. Sorry just thought it was worth telling it to help me breathe better . I will post the pictures tomorrow.
I almost forgot, just a note: figs will be sold this time by the piece , your choice black or green : $15 each that should be sufficient and fair to compensate and make up for how these golden figs made it to Fort Smith don’t you think? Lol… just a joke to help me sleep. Have a pleasant evening .

What’s new at MOMO’s! In second thought I’ll leave it to my next post because what’s more important for you is to know if your favorite pastries are available: YES,3selections:So fresh,tasty-crunchy and delicious
Pistachio, Almond, Walnut baklava and the return of the popular Namoura(honey cake) , The no name cookies and Flan pâtissier ( thought to make it a lot thinner (skinny), originally it’s a lot thicker, good but too rich in my opinion, thinner! Tasty and enjoyable
too.Have a good and cooler summer. Stay safe.

FILLO TART : so delicious and easy to make as 1,2,3
OK! Here we go,
of all the pastries I made and posted , those were labor intensive and exhausting yet amazing and delicious( according to reliable sources ). With the start of summer thought to make something easier, simple and less complicated yet still wonderful to look at and amazingly delicious and tasty to enjoy.
Some of you must be thinking what’s up with MOMO
from not posting often to back to back posting, well I don’t know about you but for me when stress hits hard looking at what’s going on with business , the uncertainty and difficulty to plan anything due to the chaotic world we are living in, I just pray and go to my kitchen to blow off the bad steam and enjoy the good kitchen’s steam. Have a great and safe summer.

The NO name cookie!
I thought after the ever so popular baklava-why not make something different and introduce it to my customers, I made one tray and did not post. Believe me not, it was sold out within two days. Made some last evening and already selling fast. You’ve got to try it to see how wonderful, sublime, tasty and delicious it is. A total of 12 gourmet ingredients were used.
This very popular Algerian delicacy sure does have a name but don’t even want to write and spell it ( Algerian dialect, hard to spell and pronounce).I guess I’ll have to come up with an easier name that will fit this amazing no name cookie. Thinking of one or a suggestion! Let me know. Blessings to you and stay safe

KARANTITA
Has anyone know what it is or for that matter ever heard, seen or tasted it. If you haven’t been to Algeria as a tourist or for business most likely you don’t know. karantita also called garantita is an iconic, very popular Algerian street food that originated from the city of Oran,Algeria dating back to 16th century. Made with chick pea flour and other ingredients then baked to a golden crusty top, enjoyed as is hot or favorably served in a crusty French baguette spread with harissa and sprinkles of cumin (optional). Growing up I remember the lines outside bakeries waiting for a hot garantita sandwich. Moms frequently make it at home for the family. Karantita was named the # 1 street food in the world for 2026( source: Taste Atlas). Made some to remember the good old. I surely enjoyed the sandwich I prepared and posted to show ,just delicious bringing back wonderful memories.
Have a wonderful holiday weekend and stay safe .

As the saying goes:
Être au four et au moulin ( to be at the mill and at the oven), wearing too many hats. To be honest I really was going to “ push on the brakes “ and stop making pastries as things are getting harder and harder and more costly to bring needed supplies but again when you have wonderful and supportive customers like you just couldn’t do that ,so as I am waiting for my baklava ingredients I made today again as per customer request, Torta alla créma(flan parisien) with an apple glaze. As the torta was left to cool off I had this great/crazy idea and why not try it . So I am probably the first ever to make a torte à la kunafapistache. It was incredible.
P.S : I had all pictures ready to post but now what’s the use I said to myself, almost sold out, I only have 4 pieces left, it looks like I am going back “to the mill and the oven”
For my customers waiting on the baklava, good news GOD willing we should have some made soon. Just keep your eyes on MOMO, for news alerts.
Blessings to you all and Peace on earth.
