Tasty Treats by Shannon Tasty treats by Shannon specializes in gourmet cupcakes, specialty cakes for any occasion, and sever I do invoicing for all orders, big or small.

Just a couple of years ago, I would have never thought of baking a cake from scratch, much less trying to decorate one. After some guidance from a few fellow bakers, I started trying a few on my own, with that I branched out with other treats and desserts. It was only last year that I was asked to bake a batch of baklava for a local friend who saw my picture here on facebook, and from there, it j

ust kind of bloomed. I don't claim to be the best, but I do make each and every order as unique as the person who ordered. I don't believe in skipping steps and I take my orders very seriously, and strive to create exactly what is asked of me within my ability! Most orders range anywhere from $10-$100 depending on detail and what is asked. Payment of at least half is required at least 48 hrs before the order is due. A cancellation notice of at least 48 hr before the order is due is required. I ask that you give me at least a week's notice for intricate orders including fondant decorations. I take my time creating these and they usually take at least one full day to create exactly what you are asking me for, and at least 3-4 days for 3D characters. Basic cakes with just buttercream and piping, I ask for at least 3 days notice as long as it's just a 1/4 or 1/2 sheet or any round cakes. Tiered or specialty cakes need to have at least a week's notice. Gourmet cupcakes cost $.50 more each due to the additional fruit or other garnishment used to make them spectacular. These also require at least 2 days notice to acquire ingredients for. Baklava as well as other custom treats orders need to have at least a couple of days notice so I can purchase the ingredients. Took a couple of my crowd favorites, and tweaked the recipes to make them my own. The results were fantastic, and gorgeous too! I love a pretty cupcake.

So, I'm really out of practice with my photo skills, but I made up for it with taste and simplistic beauty. A simple lemon bundt cake with powdered sugar dusting on top. Definitely feeling proud of my ability to take a recipe, look at it, decide I don't like the way its written, so used the same measurements of things, but switched methodology and a few ingredients to make it mine. I don't even like lemons that much, but this is good. Maybe next time I'll use a berry compote inside or on top. Anyway, I apologize again that the pics aren't wonderful, I clearly need to bake more to have more photography practice😉

That being said, what are some suggestions to use these lemons? I really don't like lemon infused water, so that's out, and no one really drinks lemonade post the first glass in our home, what would you make?

Fun, but busy day. When your puppy's first birthday coincides with father's day, both get their own cakes!

Peanut butter, applesauce cake, with a peanut butter yogurt frosting

Father's Day cake
S'mores cake- dark chocolate with a small layer of graham cracker crumbs, topped with marshmallow buttercream and more graham cracker crumbs, then frosted with vanilla buttercream, topped with a milk chocolate ganache, graham cracker crumbs, toasted marshmallows and graham crackers.
The youngest helped decorate the s'more cake, including spreading the icing. 🙂

Made an angel food cake last week which was good, recreated the same recipe this week, only difference was the almond extract being real verus imitation, but everything from the texture to the taste was exquisite! Also took pics with somewhat better lighting. Tomorrow I'll try to get a pic of just the cake, the crumb is so perfect!
