Cross Pointe Venue and Chapel in Mendenhall is seriously such a beautiful hidden gem right here in Central Mississippi! 😍 The chapel, the gorgeous wooded setting, the reception space… it has such a sweet, intimate feel and would make the prettiest backdrop for a wedding day.

But y’all know these vendor spotlights aren’t just about pretty places for me. 🤍 The people behind the business matter too.

Janet has been SO incredibly sweet to me and to Old Rugged Bakery. She has loved on my little business, recommended me to her brides, shared my work, and has truly gone out of her way to support me. As a small business owner, that kind of support means more than people realize. 🥹

I’m so thankful for the relationships I’m building with other wedding vendors in our area, and when someone supports me like that, I absolutely want to return that love!

📖❤️ A cake with a story behind it.

I absolutely adored creating this Bible cake for Bulah’s 78th birthday! Her daughter wanted to incorporate her mother’s favorite Scripture, Psalm 23:1, and of course she had to sneak in a little personality too. 😂

She’s celebrating 78 years, but that little (100) is an inside joke between the two of them and honestly, those personal touches are what make custom cakes so special. ❤️

The deep red, black, white and touches of gold came together beautifully, but my favorite part will always be the meaning behind it:

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” — Psalm 23:1 ✝️

Happy 78th (or should we say 100th 😉) Birthday, Bulah! May the Lord continue to lead you, keep you, and bless the years ahead. ❤️

💚🎸 WHEN THE CUSTOMER SAYS “LIME GREEN” AND LETS ME RUN WITH IT! 🎸💙

She already had the topper picked out and knew she wanted lime green icing… everything else was up to me! 🤗 And I really love how this one came together for Bubba’s 15th birthday!

I thought the Chevy emblem on the front was the perfect extra touch, and those little red and white stripes around the sides helped tie the whole topper into the cake without taking away from that bright green. 💚❤️🤍💙

Sometimes a little creative freedom is all it takes to make the whole design come together! 😍

🌺💦 SPLASH into TWO! 💦🌺

This one was SO much fun!! 🦩💕 Happy 2nd Birthday to sweet Mabry! And yes… another almost-name twin around here 😂 Hers is Mabry, mine is Maybre — no relation, just another funny coincidence!

I absolutely LOVED getting to bring this bright, summery splash theme to life. But can we talk about those buttercream hibiscus flowers?! 🌺😍 I was so happy with how they turned out! The bright colors, flamingo, ring float, beach ball and all those little details just scream summertime birthday! ☀️💦

Happy 2nd Birthday, Mabry! I hope your day was filled with lots of fun, sunshine and SPLASHING! 🩷🩵

❤️ True MVP behind Old Rugged Bakery!! 💜

Okay, THIS deserves its own post. 🥹❤️ Not about a cake. Not about an order. About the person behind the scenes who helps make Old Rugged Bakery possible my mama.

She is truly the MVP and the heart behind so much of this little bakery. When I call and say, “Mama, I need help,” she shows up. When I’m buried in orders and feel like I’ve reached my limit, she’s right there doing all the stuff nobody ever sees in those pretty finished pictures. 😂

She does the grunt work so I can make everything beautiful. 🤣 Mixing, rolling, dipping, prepping, packaging, cleaning whatever needs doing, Mama is there. And when it gets REALLY crazy, she recruits my niece Taylor and the two of them come in like their own little bakery production crew. 😂🙌🏻

And apparently Mama’s job description doesn’t stop there because she’s also my unofficial interior designer and delivery driver 🚗 . 😂 If I want to change something in the cake shop, she’s the one I ask, “Does this look good?” And trust me… she’ll tell me if it DOESN’T. 🤣 She’s helped me turn this little space into what it is today, too.

Looking back at these older pictures of my cake shop honestly stopped me for a minute. WOW. We’ve come a long way. 🥹 Sometimes you’re so busy working and trying to keep moving forward that you don’t realize how much God has already allowed you to build until you look back at where you started.

The bakery has changed. I’ve grown. The orders have grown. My abilities have grown. But one thing that’s been consistent is having people I love standing beside me through it all. ❤️

Mama, I hope you know how much I appreciate you. I truly could not do this without you. And Taylor, Aunt Sarah sure does love and appreciate you too! 🥹

And y’all… Thanksgiving and Christmas with the three of us in that bakery this year?! 😂🦃🎄 We’re going to make some AWESOME treats, probably destroy that pretty cake shop in the process 🤣, and make some pretty special memories together.

I look at where Old Rugged Bakery started and where God has brought it, and I’m just thankful. For the growth. For the opportunity. And especially for the people He gave me to help carry it. 🤍

The CUTEST little gender reveal cookie set for Baby Barlow! 🩵🩷

Cowboy boots, big pink bows, cow print and all the western details made this theme so much fun to create! Now the only question is… will Baby Barlow be wearing BOOTS or BOWS?! 👢🎀

And nope… no relation to this Barlow family! 😂 Just a funny little coincidence that made this order even cuter to me!
