05/30/2024
As I sit this morning my thoughts go back to September 2007 when we first opened the bakery. The early mornings of baking bread and cookies. The smell of soup as Nanny Linda prepared it. I loved raising the blinds (yes, we use to have blinds) at 7am to welcome the new day and our early coffee drinkers and pastry eaters. I think about our “babies” - Emma Munford eating pancakes in her pajamas with Greg; Jackson Gray sitting in his own chair, kicking his boots off under the table, waving to everyone who came thru the door; Cason Brown with his cherub cheeks and Abigail Poe eating Nanny’s Potato Soup just to name a few. We have had so many “babies” thru the years. So many who have graduated high school and college, gotten married and had babies of their own. In the blink of an eye we went from 2007 to 2024. We have been so blessed to get to know each of you. To have been a part of your happiest of days and also part of some of your saddest. I think about the ones who touched our lives and have passed on: Dottie McIntyre, Cindy Campbell, Ted Cowan, Martha Boggus, Mandy Munford, Kay Faircloth, Jackie Harper and so many, many more. I think about all of the teachers who have ordered from us. All of the companies we have catered for. I think about how blessed I have been to be able to work with my mother, my brother, my daughter and my son all these years. How our employees became family. How a community embraced us, lifted us up with your words and your prayers, laughed with us, cried with us, rejoiced with us and encouraged us when we fell short or made a mistake. A lifetime of memories have been made in these short 17 years. May 31st will be our last day open to the public. I hope each of you know how much you mean to us, how thankful and honored we are to have been able to serve you. We will be open 10am to 3pm with a limited menu, extra cookies and pounds and a few loaves of bread if you get a chance to stop by. We carry you all with us as we say thank you and goodbye.
