We are baking and baking, our ‘little engine that could’ has a spot to call home at 1702 6th Ave in Tacoma. Stop in and say hello, daily 7-3. Gradually getting bread and pastry working…it’s not all going to be gold for the next couple weeks but we appreciate the support and feedback. By and by we’ll find a rhythm.

• We will have all the fan favorites daily by early April

• We have food and espresso too, but we don’t accept tips…our wages compensate for that and we have goods for which gratuities are not appropriate (like bread!).

• Baking on different equipment has a learning curve….now and then a warped loaf comes out with a surprise deer antler sticking out, we try to catch those but you might get an oddity…let us know of course.

• Thanks to all our stalwart supporters through the years who make this possible

• Opening a bakery is a dream, but sometimes it’s like those dreams where you wake up screaming. Still, it’s now a fact and we’re none the worse off except for the normal wear and tear such as happens in life. Come say hi.

This Valentine’s, say ‘I Love You’ with ham. Feed each other a croissant rolled with applewood smoked ham, Swiss Gruyère, spicy mustard, and sesame. There’s a warm Gochujang Scallion pastry waiting for you on this rainy morning. Nobody asked for it but we are doing it anyway. Is it because this is Stalin’s Russia? nope it’s just that good.

Remember that bagels are being given away on Super Bowl SUNDAY, a free 4 pack with a half pound of plain schmear. You can come today AND tomorrow if necessary. We won’t bring it up.

The sun will rise on hot ovens this weekend, for another weekend without a farmers market but with bread aplenty for those who want or need it. For anyone Fife adjacent, you may approach this little hamlet without hesitation from 9-noon on Saturday and Sunday. And on Sunday in particular, we want to add our bit to your Super Bowl smorgasbord so you’ll get a 4pack of fresh sourdough bagels and a tub of cream cheese on us, just for showing up and smiling.

We’ll also have some commemorative cruffins in green and blue (pistachio & blueberry) suitable for framing. Along with the usual, always fresh baked by meal team six in the back of the house.

Construction on the new bakery continues with all hands.

Whatever your problem, the texture and aroma of Einkorn may just be the solution. This ancient grain, organically grown in the Methow Valley, stand alone. It’s a fan favorite but still unknown to most, so we’re spreading the scent this weekend with……..a free loaf for you. No asterisks, no purchase necessary, no professional driver on a closed course, just get yourself to Fife and come in from the cold.

If you feel like getting something else you can. Eating pastry is a sin, and we believe you should sin a little. 9-Noon, Sat & Sun.

PS our new crib is coming along, maybe another month or so. In the meantime we remain Tacoma’s hottest new bakery in Fife.

Opening the shop to civilians this Christmas Eve (9a-2p) for whomever and whatever, no questions asked. Not because bread is the true meaning of Christmas, but it helps. Some familiar options and a few new GF items as well. You can pre-order all the basics, and we will have a good selection of other pastries etc when you come in.
