Christmas and the rosettes my mom only made that time of year, my grandma Rose's red velvet cake at many family get togethers, my grandma Bea and how she never let anyone in her house without forcing them to eat something, the delicious spring rolls and crepes in Thailand, the amazing grouper tacos at Paco's Tacos, walking to Ted Drew's with my family on hot summer nights, funnel cakes and soup in
Branson, chicken roasted on a spit at my best friend's house and the list could go on. If I am going to a new place, or any place for that matter, the first thing I start looking into are places to eat! My love of food paired with growing up with top notch cooks is probably why I have always enjoyed being in the kitchen. But my passion for baking didn't really take hold until my daughter's first birthday. I knew I wanted something special but something from a bakery was not in the budget. So I made a few practice cakes, even made my own marshmallow fondant, and took a whack at it. 10 years later and I am now a designated dessert bringer to all family functions. My decorating skills are still not where Id like them to be, its hard finding time for that with little ones pulling my apron strings every which way. But I love new projects that give me practice and will not serve something that isn't the best I can do. As far as taste my motto has always been Id rather it taste amazing than look amazing. Ill scrap something and start over if I cant be proud to put my name on it!
