A little bit about me. First, my name is Destiny. Yes, for real. My parents couldn't decide on a name and apparently I didn't have one for weeks! Then one day my dad found the name in the paper and here I am. I have a fiance Wyet, two perfect kids, a cat and a puppy. Wyet and our kiddios have been very supportive of this new adventure and have pushed me to make my dream a reality. Honestly, I thin

I have always loved to bake. I started when I was in middle school sitting around my grandma's kitchen learning the "old school" ways of baking. My grandmother, Sylvia, is the namesake of this business. She was the most amazing person. She taught me to bake with love and that you can't rush or cut corners. She always told me that the ingredients you put into the cake are only half of the process and not even the important ones. Sure everthing needs to taste amazing and look even better but the true value of the baking is the smiles you get back from it. Both of my grandmothers, as well as my mom and stepmom, have always been fierce, independent and stubborn (but don't tell them that!!) women. All those traits have been instilled in me, and yes the stubborn part too! But that is what drives me. I push myself to try new things when it comes to baking. To see what will work and what fails. I tell my kids it is only considered a fail if you give up. Trust me, there are days when nothing turns out right, or the cakes falls apart, or you kids knock it on the floor. But those are days you need to talk a walk, eat some chocolate and cruise pinterest for inspiration. My passion for Sylvia's Cakes and Cookies is to make people smile. I want my customers to become friends. People who will continue to inspire me with their awesome ideas, their stories and their smiles. My cakes my not be the biggest or the fanciest. But if my customers smile when they see the cake or treats I have made, or their friends and family love the cake then that's all the recognition I need. Smiles build memories and if my cakes and cookies can help you build lasting memories then my grandmother will be proud. Next week Tuesday (8:30-12:30) and Wednesday(11-3) I will be at the Fercho YMCA for a preschool fundraiser. Stop on by and try some yummy cake pops, cupcakes and cookies!!!! All money raised goes to the kindercamp preschool!!!!

We all have our days. Yesterday not a single thing I worked on made it past the kitchen!!! Worked on anti-Valentine's day cookies....dough was super sticky, royal icing was to thin....argh!!! Into the garbage they went!!!!
