⭐ The Parol — A Little Piece of Home 🇵🇭🎄
There are certain things that immediately make me think of a Filipino Christmas, and the parol is one of them.
Growing up Filipino, the parol was more than just a pretty Christmas decoration. That beautiful star meant Pasko was coming. ⭐
The parol represents the Star of Bethlehem, but to me it also represents home, family, faith, hope, and the traditions that connect us to where we came from.
Now that I have raised my own family here in the United States, traditions like this mean even more to me. I want my daughters to know and appreciate the beautiful Filipino traditions that are part of their heritage. Even the simplest things—a Filipino dish on the table, a familiar Christmas song, or a glowing parol—can keep that connection alive.
There is something especially meaningful about seeing a Filipino parol glowing during a cold winter here in the Midwest. Thousands of miles from the Philippines, that little star still feels like home. 🇵🇭❤️
As I get older, I realize that traditions aren't just things we remember from childhood. They are things we choose to carry forward.
And hopefully, someday, my girls will see a parol and think of home too. ❤️
