Gold Medal Bakery announces the recipients of the 2022 John R. LeComte Annual Scholarship Award. This award is open to all employees and children of employees of the company. This year, we had 3 local scholarship winners.
Ms. Madison Amaral currently attends Suffolk University in Boston, MA, majoring in Psychology. She plans to obtain her Master’s degree in Social Work and become a Licensed Social Worker.
Ms. India Mello will start school this fall at Salve Regina University in Newport, RI where she plans to pursue her Doctor of Pharmacy degree and become a Pharmacist.
Ms. Makenzie Moniz will start school this fall at Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, MA where she plans to pursue her Master’s degree in Elementary Education and become a Kindergarten Teacher.
The John R. LeComte Scholarship Program was established in 2004, in memory of the company’s past-president, the late John R. LeComte, to assist employees and/or their children towards their pursuit of higher education. Each application for the scholarship is reviewed as to financial need and qualities demonstrated through academic achievements, leadership experience, significant accomplishments, goals and strengths, and community/volunteer service. Each application must also include two letters of recommendation from a former teacher and/or employer, and an essay written by the applicant.
