OK everybody. Back on September 1st, 2024, we initiated a service charge on plastic transactions with the promise that we would not raise menu prices for two years. Three weeks later Helene hit and everything went topsy turvy. Donald Trump because president again for some reason and tariffs started happening and inflation ticked up and even so we kept our promise. Every single aspect of our business has become more expensive--a pattern I imagine many if not most of you will recognize from your own lives. For the past very long while, I'm proud to say, that hasn't been the case for your daily cup of joe and slice of banana bread.

Please do not blame the baristas or hold it against them when you come in Tuesday, September 1st, and find that your usual costs a little more. It's 100% my decision. And since it would in fact be amazingly irresponsible for me not to make it (as it was amazingly irresponsible for me to make that promise two years ago) it's not a decision I'm going to defend at length on this forum. We did something strange and canvassed for pay in support of a nearby city’s YIMBY-oriented zoning reform. It was an experience rich in feelings. You’ll probably never canvass politically, so you might as well read about it.
