📋 The results are in — Montana's annual NASS wheat and barley variety survey is complete for 2026.

The survey, funded by the Montana Wheat & Barley Committee, is one of the most important data points of the year for MSU plant breeders and grain buyers alike. It shows which varieties Montana producers are actually planting, how those varieties are performing across the state, and where the breeding program should focus its efforts going forward. 🌾🔬

For buyers, it's a window into what's coming out of Montana fields. For breeders, it's a report card and a roadmap at the same time. 📊

It is National Farm Safety and Awareness week!

Agriculture is a tough industry, filled with tough people who aren’t scared to work hard. With high pressure timelines, the elements, volatile markets, large animals and equipment, working long hours often shorthanded, the mental and physical tolls of the industry can be excessive.

We urge you to remember your life is more important than completing any task. Take the time to utilize proper safety measures, rest, ask for help, make sure someone knows your location, eat, and stay hydrated.

🍺🧀 Coors Light and Cheez-It just dropped a collaboration — and Montana barley might be closer to your snack shelf than you think.

Mars Inc. and Coors Brewing Co. have teamed up to launch Cheez-It Coors Light Beer Cheese flavored crackers, a limited-edition mashup combining beer cheese flavor with tangy sauce and toasted spices. Not exactly the traditional end use for malt barley — but that's kind of the point. 🌾

From beer to crackers, barley's versatility keeps finding new outlets. Every time a major brand builds a product around the flavor profile of a barley-based beverage, it's a reminder of just how far a Montana-grown crop can travel. Keep an eye out for these on shelves. 👀
