With a really heavy heart, I’m sharing that I’ll be archiving my business.

What began as a business grew into a community bigger than i could’ve ever imagined. Through food and treats, I was able to connect with people in meaningful ways. I supported fellow food creators as they got started and shared moments that brought up cherished memories of loved ones and of home especially Hawaiʻi. Those stories and connections are something I will always hold close.

While this chapter is coming to a close, my passion for helping others hasn’t changed. I’ll still be here, separately and personally, happy to share knowledge, answer questions, add/edit the state’s homemade food directory, and help fellow Alaskans navigate food ventures and networking whenever I can, simply because its truly my passion. (Homemade foods Alaska & local pages/groups is where I’ll outreach!)

Thank you to everyone who supported, encouraged, and trusted me along the way. This journey was only possible because of you and I’m deeply grateful for the community we built together.

Thank you Alaska for giving me a place to create, to connect, and to belong.

Lastly, for those who now follow from Indiana: I’ll still be making krispys + treats from time to time. This chapter and message are rooted in Alaska, which will always hold a special place in my heart.🏔️ 🫶

Hi friends,

I wanted to share a little update about Baked Borealis. I’ll be pausing operations for the foreseeable future and sadly, there isn’t a timeline for when I might resume.
That said, I’ll still be continuing free home-based food business consulting and managing the statewide directory for Alaska, so some parts of the business will stay active 💛

I’m so grateful to everyone who has supported me over the years— your encouragement, orders, and kind words have meant the absolute world to me. Thank you for understanding as I take some time to step back.

I plan to keep the page in the meantime and post occasionally to stay connected here, since as many of you know, I love connecting with people through food 💛

I’ve seen a few comments and posts circulating that suggest Sassy Scoops is closing because of people experiencing houselessness downtown or the tenants in the Northward Building. I want to be absolutely clear — that is not true.

I have never felt unsafe because of anyone experiencing houselessness, and I have deep respect and affection for the tenants who call the Northward home. This community — including its most vulnerable members — has always shown me kindness and support, and I’ve always tried to do the same in return.

Even though I can’t share every detail behind this transition, I want to emphasize that my decision wasn’t influenced by the people who live or spend time downtown. Fairbanks has a big heart, and I’ve always felt lucky to be part of that. Thank you all for the love and support — it truly means everything to me. 💗

We have something to admit…🙈

Despite our best efforts to stay consistent, life sometimes has its own plans.
We’ve been navigating a few bumps lately, but through it all, I still find comfort in creating and connecting through food — one bake, one meal, one moment at a time.

Tonight’s creation: sourdough banana bread 🍌
Baked like a sheet cake, topped with a rich layer of chocolate and crunchy chocolate cereal for that extra bite of texture😌✨
